Poor choice using Hotels.com

I did not check in to the hotel in Waycross Georgia because I had tried without success to cancel my original booking with Hotels.com. Now Hotels.com has billed my credit card for a two-night stay when I didn’t even spend one night in the hotel. I was able to directly phone the Fairfield Inn Marriott in Waycross and re-book another stay for a different date. I hope to get a refund from either Hotels.com or from Marriott, but I fear I may have lost my money and will have to file a dispute for the charges with my credit card company. What a mess! Needless to say I will never use Hotels.com again to make a reservation.

At check in we waited for 10 minutes for the desk clerk to come out of the back room, Rooms are very small and it was very noisy from outside. At 6:10 the next morning we went down to breakfast. Coffee was cold and what little food there was was not very good.

Receptionist had a seriously bad attitude and kept trying to get me to pay for the second room even though I showed her the Expedia receipt for the 2 rooms. This property was very beautiful. Staff was friendly. BUT…. The rooms were filthy. They were not swept, mopped, or cleaned. The sheets smelled and were dirty and had hair on them. The night stands had crumbs on the top of it. I wouldn’t stay here again unless a visually saw them clean that room.

Air conditioning problems. Air conditioning in the room did not work properly when we arrived. When someone came to fix it, they said that it was common and there were issues all throughout the hotel with the air conditioning. The lobby and halls did not seem to be air-conditioned.

Nice, new property. The bed sleeps great, and the HVAC keeps the room cold as desired. Only issue was a large cockroach in the bathroom when we first entered the room. In reading the other reviews, this seems to be an issue the hotel pest control needs to address.

Hit or miss

The first few times I stayed here it was pretty good. But this time was different. The comforter had a big stain across it. Idk if it was a permanent stain or hadn't been washed. I don't like that they leave the trash bags for the guest to put in the cans instead of the cleaners doing it. There's no full length mirror. And the A/C in this room was really loud to be so new. I guess it's just hit or miss at this location.
