Very old bar with hotel above. Old furnishings and very soft bed springs under a soft but new mattress Room just big enough to fit a queen bed: had to move luggage back to the car after unpacking a few things as there was no room for two to move around. Small bathroom at end of hall. It was clean and the owners seem to be working hard to do what they can with this old place, but still it is it is well below today’s hotel standards and it seems a losing battle. To call it a “backpacker hotel” would be generous. Dinner was good and several different good beers on tap in the bar.

A basic Continental breakfast was provided, variety of cereals, full and lite milk, orange juice. Wholemeal and white bread and raisin loaf. A good range of teas and instant coffee provided. The cereal bowls were tiny so restricted amount eaten, fruit or yoghurt not provided. Maybe a good idea to take your own?

Nice place about 40 minutes drive from Cradle Mountain. It was great to have the pub/restaurant attached. Aside from the wifi being a bit patchy, the accommodation was great.

Waratah is a very small and quiet town. We stayed for 2 nights so that we could drive to Cradle Mountain easily within 45 minutes each way. The room we stayed in was a queen room with ensuite. The whole room basically was very clean. However, it was so small that we could only stand in the room or sat on the bed. The bed was comfortable but the quilt was dusty. The staff are nice and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay at Waratah. The rooms were clean and the meals wonderful. The Bischoff is easy walking around the town and we were lucky enough to spot a platypus or two in the nearby lake. Check out the local waterfall lit up at night. Great location!

Not happy

Das Hotel ist alt, die Zimmer sind klein und wirken überladen. Das Zimmer das wir bekommen haben, war so klein, dass wir nicht die Koffer öffnen und gleichzeitig noch im Zimmer stehen konnten. Gegen einen Aufpreis haben wir ein grösseres Zimmer bekommen. Der Frühstücksraum wird wohl nicht oft gebraucht. Er ist lieblos eingerichtet und war sehr kalt. Das essen im Pub war enttäuschend.
