One night at Best Western

Bed. Room was great, very large. The problem was the bed. Very uncomfortable. My wife and I hardly slept. The property was good, and the staff was helpful (Vicky at check in) Our whole stay started off bad when we could not open our room door. Did not have breakfast, just wanted to get home.

Gem in Port St. Lucie

Rooms are spacious and well-equipped. Reasonable rates. The building’s outside is not conducive with the niceties of the rooms. Highly recommend.

Major Security Issues/Lack of Service

Had a 10 PM check-in due to travel, and the lobby was locked. Check-in process happens outside. ALL guests need to get their license copied. I have never heard of that before. When I asked the staff why, they said it was due to a recent incident at the hotel (turns out the incident was an actual MURDER that took place in July). Check-in was sketchy and not welcoming, having to do it outside through a hole in bulletproof glass. If you have a hotel, you can't lock out guests from the lobby - period. Good news - we all survived.

Our original room had a bad smell and also the door wouldn't lock so we went back to the front desk and we were quickly moved to a different room. It did not have that smell and it had the same size bed (which was very comfortable). Also, the breakfast was very good. It had a combination of hot foods, cold foods, fruit, yogurt and sweets as well as a variety of beverages. Although we did not use the pool, it is large and clean. It looked very refreshing. We were very happy with our stay here!
