I made my up the very steep stairs and found the street despite a heavily faded sign. But, when I rang the bell nobody came. I waited around for nearly an hour, tried to find a phone number to call (not listed on Expedia). Finally I caught the bus back to Santiago for that night. Very disappointed.

Disliked: Staff & service, property conditions & facilities, room comfort

Very Bad experience.

Too awful experience as a foreigner traveller. If you are not Chilean, never book or stay here since they will ask for additional VAT which is much above 19% that is stated in Chilean law. All other accommodations in Chile give you exemption of VAT, 19%, if you pay with foreign debit or credit cards in addition to PDI visa proofs. However, this hostel asked me to pay about $20 more as a VAT even if I paid all costs through the Hotels.com. So, I asked the hostel why you asked me 19% VAT which were much more than 19%, furthermore, additionally then, they admit that their mistake, and changed into lower VAT pricrs. And, when I asked them why you request VAT 19% even to a foreigner who paid with foreign card and with PDI visa, they replied me that it's just their company policy so that all foreigner shall pay more money. And they told me that without paying unnecessary 19% additional money, not allowed to enter the hostel. Furthermore, they've never fixed the cold water on bathroom although i complained them repeatedly. So i took shower for two nights with cold water. And breakfast served by them as per the hostel instruction is quite strange. When I asked them about breakfast on 9.30 am because i found that there's no foods in dinning tables, they told me that I should take poor foods from a refrigerator and wash dishes myself after eating. But the following day, I found all other guests just left dishes.
