We really enjoyed our time on Tybee Island (except for the 60 parking ticket we received because we weren't paying attention :) )Bernie's Oyster House and the Crab Shack were two great places to eat.If you are looking for an awesome experience on the water, contact Georgia Coast Charters. Bennett was a wonderful guide who not only found us a lot of fish, he dropped us off on a sandbar to hunt for seashells, and was very knowledgeable about the 4000 year history of the area.

Loved the house. The beach as not visible due to overgrowth of foliage. Also, the garage was full of mud from I’m guessing rain flooding. Otherwise no complaints. The house was just as listed.

Lovely home, right on the beach. Nice to stay in a place that has honored its land. Lawn in the front and back. Easy saunter along the pier to the beach. The screened porch is extra nice at night. Very peaceful with the ocean in the distance.

Pretty place, clean and close to beach

Loved the covered screened porch with lots of seating for eating there at the home. Nice kitchen, rooms were great for big family and right to beach. Only thing I’d say to clean up the vegetation on the boardwalk to beach, it was overgrown and had to walk thru trees that could have been cut back. Was a pleasant and clean place to stay and would stay again.

Great location and very comfortable

We came for a few days at the beach and absolutely enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay with its own beach access.

Needs some serious TLC

This property is in dire need of some Tender Loving Care. It was built in the 1930’s and I think it was last updated in the mid 70’s. Everything from the paint on the walls to the furniture needs a complete overhaul. It’s obvious the owner is trying to squeeze the most profit out of the property without reinvesting to keep the home suitable for renting. I wouldn’t know where to begin listing deficiencies because they are everywhere you look.

Charm abounds

If you love charm and appreciate history, this cottage is for you. We did not want to leave. It’s one of the original cottages on the island and still appears to be in the family of the original owners. You can feel how extravagant it must have been to get away there in early 1900s. There are more bathrooms and showers than they advertise. The ground level has his and hers changing rooms with decent showers and a 1940s toilet closet in the hall. (3 showers, 3 toilets total) There are multiple other “apartments” under the main living quarters you rent. It is unclear if they are occupied. My only concern would be a window that is propped open for washer drainage via a pipe and a loose a/c window unit in the same space. The description also says that it is farther from the beach than it really is. The dunes are a little tough to navigate but a public access point is a block away that I’d suggest for older individuals.

Wouldn’t stay here again

We enjoyed the size of the home, the bedrooms, living room, and screened in porch were very generous. However the outside of the home and grounds were not kept up well, the grass is overgrown and paint is peeling. The kitchen was functional but old. We enjoyed the charm of the old home but feel it could be better kept. The private walkway leading to the beach is a long and difficult walk…. Also random people would use the private walkway, making it not private at all! You have to be very physically fit to make this walk to the beach!! Be aware! The neighbors dogs barked a lot and the washer started to leak on day 2 of our stay!

Tybee beach cottage

Overall our stay was great and I would book this cottage again. There was ample space for our family of 6. We enjoyed the large screened in porch for morning coffee and meals. The location was great and was a short walk to the beach for us. If you have small children or are elderly the walk may be challenging. There is a large due to climb over at the end. However we have lived in a 100+ year old home and understand and appreciate the quirks that come along with older homes. The door knobs are old and need to be handled with care. The bathroom situation was a little unconventional. That being said I would recommend a few general maintenance items. 1. The grass needs to be mowed. It was very long and overgrown in the front and back and made for a bad first impression. 2. The washer had a leak (we informed maintenance and they were out the same day). 4. There was a mouse that had gotten into some of our food we left on the counter and the day we left there was mouse poop in the stairwell leading to the back door. 5. I would recommend a new set of pans for cooking. It was almost impossible to cook anything without it sticking to the pans. Even basic grilled cheese. I would also recommend a larger coffee pot. A 4 cup pot just doesn’t work when you have more than 1 coffee drinker.

House was clean. Furnishings were a bit dated but attractive. Neighborhood was quiet. Restaurants were within walking distance. Kitchen sink leaked onto floor.

Charming Cottage

The cottage was clean, well stocked, great location!! We had a wonderful time during our stay. Our only suggestion would be that an addition of a hot tub would make this a perfect restful getaway!!

Lots of character and space

Really enjoyed our stay. Located near restaurants and grocery store. A bit of a difficult walk to the beach if you are carrying beach gear and a cooler, especially when walkway runs out. Once on the beach we loved it. Not too crowded.

Tybee Beach Cottage

Our biggest issue is that you cannot see the beach from the house and it is a very long walk out to it. The boardwalk in places is very overgrown with foliage. When it ends there is yet another sand dune to climb over.

Perfect home for quiet time away with beach access.

Home was beautiful! We enjoyed the private beach access but were not able to use a wagon due to the hills and narrow path to the beach. Home was roomy and cozy. There isnt a tv in the living room so bring plenty of games for the family.
