⸻The house was nice and well equipped, but the garbage disposal had a strong, unpleasant odor that we couldn’t get rid of. After checkout, the host, Brook, attempted to charge a 200 cleaning fee for a “smoking smell.” I don’t smoke and would never allow guests to smoke inside the home around my small children. My guests smoked in their vehicles, and any odor may have come from their clothes.We noticed fur balls on the furniture and floors upon arrival, along with several small cat bowls and trash left in the kitchen from a previous guest. The host complained about minor things such as lashes left on the dresser and small spills on the kitchen table that were accidentally missed. The listing originally allowed small gatherings, but the rules were changed afterward.There were already stains on the living room carpet that were blamed on us. It felt like the host expected a deep clean after checkout, which should be covered by the cleaning fee. I’ve never left a place in poor condition, and this isn’t my first time using short-term rentals.
