I enjoyed the casual nature of the property and dealing with earnest, friendly and helpfull staff. It was like staying over at a friends place in the woods. Quick drive to Truckee and easy to get to the lake via 89 or 267. We did not eat at the property, we wanted to explore options in town. Rooms were fine, comfy, but standard for the price range.

The property is very sustainable. The chef was out the day we stayed. So, the restaurant was closed, The hotel was priced high for less amenities. Beautiful area.

Started out good, ended bad

I was looking forward to staying at this hotel. By the description, I expected a rustic lodge with a higher end flare, and it did not disappoint. It was nestled amongst large trees alongside a busy road. However, the buildings do not have locking outer doors and the lighting is low (most likely to enhance the “forest” feel). Unfortunately, someone was able to break into my room and took all the cash from my wallet in less than an hour of me leaving the room for a short evening walk. I have never had this happen before and I travel a lot. Luckily it was only the cash and not the electronics, cameras, etc. Lesson learned - never leave your valuables alone in the room no matter how much you pay for the room. I won’t be going back to this hotel.

Clean well appointed rooms. Comfy bed. Solid AC and room was already at 67 when I arrived. Little patio with morning sun. Tea bag style coffee was different. Little hot tub (fits 4 tops). Didn't try the suana - not my thing.
