Cozy apartment just south of downtown, sleeping up to 4 guests and with ample parking. A perfect base for exploring Tromsø and its beautiful surroundings, and equipped with everything you need for short or long stays. Flexible check-in and check-out times, as well as the option for luggage storage or drop-off.
The apartment is located in a single-family home, set back from the street in a quiet residential neighborhood on the south side of Tromsøya. In the summer, you can feel like you’re living in the countryside even though you’re close to most amenities. It’s right next to the Tromsø Museum, and it takes about 5 minutes to walk to Telegrafbukta (beach and ocean), which is also a great spot to view the Northern Lights during the season, as there is little light pollution there. It’s also close to hiking trails, as well as trails for cross-country skiing and sledding in the winter.
The apartment is within walking distance of downtown (1.5 km) and also has good bus connections; with a bus stop right nearby, you’re just a quick 5-minute ride—or a pleasant 15–20-minute walk—from downtown. There are good bus connections, and bus route 40 runs right by (bus stop “NRK”); bus routes 33 and 34 are a 5-minute walk away. Bus route 40 can also be taken from the airport to the apartment (via downtown). Grocery stores are an 8–10-minute walk away. If you take a taxi or have a rental car, the trip from the airport takes about 10–13 minutes.
The apartment has its own entrance and a code lock, which makes key handover easy.
There is a bench and table in the garden for use in spring, summer, and fall. There are also benches in the covered entryway that can be used year-round. Ample parking space.
The bedroom has a double bed that is 150 cm wide, and there is also a sofa bed for 2 people in the living room, which unfolds to a width of 150 cm. The sofa bed can also be used by one person with a mattress topper without needing to unfold it. In addition, there is a baby bed in the apartment that can be used as needed (a travel crib with the necessary accessories is stored in the closet).
The kitchen table can be extended (2 flaps), and there are a total of 5 chairs in the apartment.
The kitchen is stocked with the most important basic items, including a selection of various spices, oils, sugar, sweeteners, coffee, tea, and the like. There is a kettle, a coffee maker, and a capsule coffee machine, and the kitchen also has most of the tableware and equipment you’ll need for both short and long stays. (There is no dishwasher.)
The sofa is a good size, and there is also an extra ottoman, so the apartment can accommodate 4+/- people. It’s worth noting that the bathroom is a bit small but has a storage area, so it works just fine.
The apartment has a good-sized entryway with plenty of space to hang outerwear and shoes. In addition, there is a hallway with a 150 cm wide closet. Here you’ll find extra pillows, blankets, and other items. In the entryway, there are also several baskets containing various items such as outdoor seat cushions, an umbrella, ice cleats in various sizes, a reflector, a flashlight, and more, which you’re welcome to use during your stay. In the winter, sleds are also available. There are also some outdoor children’s toys available if desired.
In the living room, there are also some games, including a deck of cards, Yahtzee, Scrabble, and books. In addition, there are some toys for children and babies, puzzles, Legos, art supplies, and more. There is a desk and a workspace (dresser).
The TV is a smart TV—with the ability to listen to the radio, connect to various apps, and more. There is also a DAB radio.
There is a bench and table in the yard (though they’re hard to reach in the winter when there’s snow). But there are also benches outside the apartment under a roof.
If you have a car, there is parking on the property; just let us know in advance. There’s a gentle little slope up to the house that might be challenging in the winter if it snows heavily in a short period of time. From October through April, the road is plowed once a day when it snows (We use our car daily and have no trouble at all).
If you’re traveling with a baby or young children, we provide a travel crib, a high chair, a sled, and some indoor and outdoor toys. The high chair can be folded down to serve as a play table (see photos). There is also a changing mat in the apartment, but there isn’t enough counter space in the bathroom to use it there. The entryway is covered, so you can store a stroller there to keep it dry; you can also leave a stroller in the hallway.
If you have pets, we’re flexible, as we’ve previously had both a dog and a cat ourselves. There are great opportunities for walks in the area, and it’s a short distance to walking trails. In addition, you can also keep your dog on a leash in parts of the yard (not in the winter).
