Booked single room. Told had to move to shared room. No refund in price disparity. Last night was told to get refund from booking agent for last night of stay(past possible refund timeframe) departed hostel accordingly before checkout. text message at 4.55am next morning that it was now fine to stay for that booked night and checkout was 10am. 5 hours after the message was sent. Complete joke. No towels in room bathrooms were not cleaned properly. Would love refund for that last night but that never happened.

Budget accommodation option with a homely feel

Basic hostel, predominantly used by working travellers. Queensland building has beautiful original features with great spaces to relax. Good vibe. Free washing machines and plenty of room to hang out clothes. Very clean downstairs bathroom and a very kind resident kept the well appointed downstairs kitchen clean during my stay. I stayed in single private room that was basic but comfortable. Quite noisy due to being next to the pool that was where some residents hung out late in to the night. Location was quiet and safe, very near the bus stop with buses going directly to the city centre, as well as other shopping centres.

Such a grand old building with an interesting history. The manager was lovely to deal with. My Queen room had the basics and was clean and tidy. There were 2 toilets and 2 showers on the ground floor but watch out if the toilet paper has run out by early morning! The lounge area upstairs is great! Some parking behind the building but I had to park on the street - which was fine. I stayed for 3 nights and would definitely stay there again.
