Clean room with good WiFi, and a lovely hammock outside room where you would lay and watch the toucans and macaws. Pool at the hotel was excellent and breakfast was great too. Great property with access to both the beach and the river. Short ten minutes, flat easy walk to town, where you could see every form of wildlife, sloths, snakes and frogs, to name but a few. Loads of options for food and activities at hotel, be it floating river dinner or kayaking but with no pressure to take up on these and staff still helpful with recommendations or happy to assist should you have sorted your own.

It’s a little but of work to get to mawamba, but once you’re there it’s quite pleasant. The pool area is A+ and the breakfast is too. The walk into town is easy and the number of places to get dinner is plentiful. Beware the birds are noisy but that’s nature at its best!

You go here for the location. Communal areas. Rooms are basic but clean. Staff were welcoming and obliging but I found I had to ask for info sometimes that I would expect to have been told on check in. Food was fine. Nothing remarkable but good. The one thing I didn’t enjoy was the noise because there is no glass at the windows. This meant I was woken up by nearby families banging around or cleaning staff. Also the resort was a bit too family-facing for my preference. However it was easy to get a river taxi for all the tours from the village or directly from the Lodge for the tours Mawamba run themselves.

Fabulous place to stay. Would love better internet (didn’t work in our room at all), a small gym would also be lovely. Would have loved to known we needed to pay for the water taxi to the hotel!! Nice staff, lovely breakfast, pool was just ok. Never ate dinner there, walked into town for lunch and dinner

Great hotel with idyllic grounds

We loved Mawamba lodge, friendly staff, great location, lots of wildlife around and the hotel also organised our trips which were brilliant, boat ride and night walk, saw lots of birds, frogs, crocodile, agouti. The location and grounds are just idyllic
