About this property
Heathcote Winery Stay with Sweeping Hilltop Views
Summary:
Welcome to the Halo Home — a truly rare, luxury escape perched high on Heiligen Ridge Heathcote, in the heart of iconic wine country. With breath taking sunsets and unrivalled 220° views sweeping across rolling vineyards, mountain ranges and ancient earth, this architecturally striking, off-grid retreat offers a feeling to take home and relive. A rare sense of freedom that comes from being this high above it all — where sky, stars, land, and soul feel infinite.
The Space:
Set 1,000 feet above sea level, Halo Home is immersed in breathtaking beauty, with sweeping views in every direction. Designed to frame the surrounding landscape, this architectural retreat brings the outdoors in, offering uninterrupted vistas from the bed, kitchen and breakfast bar — creating the feeling of living inside a moving painting. Floor-to-ceiling glass reveals 220° panoramic views across vineyards, rolling hills, distant mountains and endless skies, where unforgettable sunsets, frequent shooting stars and even the rare southern aurora can be seen. Fully solar-powered and off-grid, the home pairs sustainability with indulgent comfort, featuring a premium DrRest queen mattress dressed in French cotton linen, a fluffy Bonny doona, and luxury DSTNTN robes, slippers and Leif bath products. Outside, an open-air black bathtub, fire pit and lounge chairs invite slow evenings set to music from the Marshall speaker, while indoor and outdoor dining spaces offer some of the most memorable meals you’ll ever enjoy. The kitchenette is thoughtfully equipped with a gas stove, outdoor BBQ, Smeg kettle and toaster, Nespresso machine, full cookware, pantry essentials and a charcuterie board for effortless wine-and-cheese moments. LED strip lighting and a DSTNTN scented candle set the mood, while games and a film projector loaded with classic movies add a nostalgic touch. There’s no Wi-Fi by design — encouraging digital disconnection — though mobile reception remains reliable should you need it.
~ LED strip lighting throughout the home to set the mood
~ DSTNTN scented candle — perfect for the bath or a romantic night in
~ No WiFi, intentionally designed for digital disconnection. However, mobile reception is solid here anyway.
Guest Access:
You have full private access to the vast, peaceful space atop the hill — completely yours with total privacy and uninterrupted views.
Step out and stroll to Heiligen Ridge’s cellar door, then jump in the car and within 5 minutes, you can be sipping at historic nearby wineries like Tellurian, Heathcote II, Domaine Asmara, Peregrine Ridge, and more, some just 1-2 minutes away. For a classic pub meal, the iconic Toolleen Hotel is only 3 minutes down the road.
Just on the other side of your fence, enjoy watching the horses and sheep grazing peacefully in the middle paddock — a delightful touch of farm life just for you.
Other Things to Note:
Things you need to know about your off-grid stay
The experience
DSTNTN is an off-grid luxury stay designed to immerse you in nature, stillness, and considered design. If you’re expecting a traditional hotel setup, this is not it. If you’re after an immersive stay, you’re in the right place. Each DSTNTN location is shaped by its natural environment, making every stay feel distinct. If you’re seeking something considered, and meaningfully different, you’re in the right place!
Toilet system
The home uses a Cinderella incinerating toilet system, designed in Norway. It's often a point of fascination for guests who enjoy clever, tech-forward design. It’s particularly popular with those who appreciate innovative off-grid systems.
Power system (solar)
The home runs fully on solar power. High-energy appliances cannot be run 24 hours a day, including the split system. This is a glass-forward home designed for views and immersion, not constant high-energy hotel consumption. You can't plug in EV's.
Heating & cooling
In very cold weather, the split system can be used alongside blankets and a high-quality fluffy Bonny doona provided in the home.
In very hot weather, we recommend enjoying the outdoor spaces during peak heat (bath and firepit areas are ideal), and retreating indoors as temperatures ease later in the day.
The experience is designed to move with the natural environment rather than override it.
Interaction with Guests:
We're available from 10am to 8pm and will respond to you promptly. For assistance, message us on Airbnb. While we may not be on-site, we can troubleshoot most issues for you and with you. For emergencies outside these hours, please call 000.
