The experience at check-in was extremely disappointing. The lady at the front desk was rude and unprofessional. Even after I showed her my Expedia booking confirmation, she treated me as if I were trying to check in fraudulently.
It appeared that Hotel LiveMax had prepared a printed guest list, but instead of checking it properly, she kept skipping over my name and made me wait unnecessarily. I ended up standing at the front desk for 15–20 minutes just to receive my room key.
I chose this Hotel LiveMax only because it was an affordable option in central Tokyo. I have stayed at several other Hotel LiveMax properties across Japan and have never experienced such poor customer service.
The staff member appeared to be a foreign employee, although I'm not certain. Regardless of her background, her attitude toward guests was unacceptable. To make matters worse, I was asked to present both my Japanese driver's license and my residence card, even though my identity should already have been straightforward to verify from the reservation. The entire interaction felt unnecessarily suspicious and disrespectful.
This was, without question, the worst check-in experience I have had at any Hotel LiveMax. I hope management reviews the staff's customer service training, because guests should be treated with courtesy and professionalism, not as though they are under suspicion from the moment they arrive.
