Tokomaru Bay is well appointed with four square supermarket with a 24 hour petrol stop,

The local boat ramp is across the road from the local tavern where you can order meals
or just have a quiet drink and watch the sea

The beach has miles of sand, great surf, swimming and fishing and is very quiet

At the northern end of Tokomaru Bay there are freezing works ruins
and a wharf of some historical interest which is great for family fishing.

A crayfish pot is available if you want to try your hand at catching them from the wharf

Good accommodation on the Cape

This house is downstairs on the friendly owners’ farm. It has lovely views from the living room and master bedroom, lots of beds, good bathroom facilities and a good kitchen. Worked really well for an overnight stay as a family of five whilst travelling the Cape.

Short stay on the East Cape

Great location to explore the east cape. Shame that the property is a bit tired and that we had to spend the first evening cleaning the place. Food waste container on the worktop was dirty and full of ants which were also all over the sink area.

Great views from hilltop

Only stayed 1 night. Plenty of room for a family for a longer stay. Has everything you need to be self contained. The drive way up could be a challenge to some drivers. If you have an SUV not a problem. Te Puka hotel was great for a meal and a few beers. Stan the owner was great.

Macrocapa Heights : Tokomaru Bay

The apartment at Macrocapa Heights is an ideal location for a holiday break. Stan and Terresa are brilliant hosts, and they were able to give me details of the local history of the Bay together with places to visit in the immediate area. The accommodate is very comfortable and spacious and has all of the essential amenities for a relaxing break. The apartment overlooks Tokomaru Bay and has stunning view from the garden area. I would recommend Macrocapa Heights to anyone wishing to have a holiday break in an area and wants to enjoy the true scenery of the East Coast.

The road to the home was quite literally a bit bumpy but other than that, everything was perfect. Home, property managers, and of course - the views. Everything was straightforward and the whanau and I appreciate the stellar service provided.
