We rented this property for two people for a five-week stay. The home is in clear need of maintenance and updates. Had this been our first experience with VRBO, it likely would have discouraged us from using VRBO again. Given the price, we expected accommodations comparable to—or better than—our previous rentals in the Villages.Other amenity issues included:•Garage was blocked by owners golf cart, had to contract mgr to move.•Hundreds of live sugar ants on the kitchen counters, mgr provided ant traps to remedy the situation.•Golf cart battery was so corroded, cart stopped working ½ mile from condo and had to be pushed to get it off the road.•Gas Grill ignition was broken, no note saying you needed to use a lighter.•The dryer was highly inefficient, often requiring up to four cycles to dry clothing, though it was eventually replaced after contacting the mgr.•Living room furniture was outdated and uncomfortable.The property manager, Down Home Properties, was responsive to the multiple calls we made to report issues. However, their efforts appeared limited to addressing problems as they arose, rather than ensuring the property met its listing description or provided a welcoming, well-prepared environment (such as the welcome touches commonly found). Additionally, the security deposit was expected to be returned within two weeks; however, we did not receive it until after following up with the property manager, at which point a check was finally issued late.
