Check in staff was delightful and very kind. We went to our room and were greeted with a filthy mess. Stains in the curtain, bed broken in multiple places, non-operational fireplace, ripped carpet and curtains. Connected again with the front desk who brought us keys for another room. Got into the other room and found this room to be WORSE than the first room. Carter Estate was kind enough to upgrade us and put us at another sister property. While I appreciate this gesture, if I wanted to stay at that property, I would have booked it. For the original price I paid, I’d recommend maintaining the room a little better. 1 room, I would have understood. 2 rooms? Not a coincidence.
