Great spot. Retro feel. Old but clean. Pool could be a bit warmer - I was hoping for a soak but it was not quite that kind of heat. But great for kids. Wifi was not good though. Not sure if that usual or only for the night I was there. Worth checking if this is important to you. Quiet and very scenic.

Loved the heated pool in winter! Only negative there wasn't enough parking and we had to park elsewhere when we got there as everyone was going out for dinner or the bar next door so when we checked in at 5pm there was no parking for us. We did move our car back later on that evening when space freed up

I was quite disappointed with the overall experience. The property felt more like a campground than a hotel, and there was little to no staff presence even reception was unattended during the day. Our room swipe card failed to work almost daily, requiring constant replacements, which was both inconvenient and frustrating. The condition of the room was also below standard, with heavily stained carpet throughout. When we moved the coffee and dining tables, we discovered red stains that had clearly been concealed rather than cleaned. Given the reputation of the group, we had expected something more refined and memorable. The highlight of our stay was the view, and we sincerely appreciated the efforts of the housekeeping staff, who kept our room tidy throughout. However, the hotel overall is in serious need of refurbishment and service improvements if it is to align with the standard of the Millennium Hotel next door.

I phoned them on Friday morning telling that we had a medical emergency and to cancel. The person i spoke to told me that they would advise Expedia on our behalf as i was unsure what to do. On Saturday night they phoned asking when i was checking in, i explained our situation and they denied my previous discussion and declined that they had offered to help. This cost my 2 nights accommodation. If they had explained to me that they were unable to help, I would have canceled through Expedia my self.

We stay in Taupō a lot. This was definitely the best price for the best accommodation we could find. It had a kitchenette with serving utensils for 3 (apartment size room) and a pool outside that was open in August. We didn’t think it would be open so we didn’t have swim-wear. But there were lots of people enjoying it. We assume because we were right on hot water beach the water was warm. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom had all the things you need and towels. It was perfect. It had great TV selections too. I know I’m all over the place with what I’ve written, but we just got back from a great road trip. We will stay at this Motel again!

This is such a great place to stay.We keep coming back. Had beautiful lakefront unit for a very reasonable price and there’s a heated pool as well as a tennis court. Plus the extra bonus of being able to use all the Millenium facilities and dining options next door is great. The location is quiet and lakefront walking track is on your doorstep.

A great room rate next to the lake. Location 10/10. Laid back relaxed feel about the place. Although the Motel was old our room was clean and had all that we needed for a night away. We arrived late in the afternoon and our unit was beautifully warm, a thoughtful touch. The staff were friendly.

Reception was not very welcoming. Was strict on 3pm checkin. Then at 3pm multiple people at same time tried checking in. Excuse was rooms not ready . Many rooms are ready so as regular traveler and hotels.com gold member traveler, i would ask the management to be like 99.9% of motels that checkin from 2pm but also very often are polite and welcome people who are a bit earlier. Otherwise the room was ok, but again i was meant to be in a room with pool view but suddenly got changed , was not impressed . So i hope management see this and take appropriate steps to fix and be more welcome to paying guests if they want return visits as ive stayed in taupo over 100 times and never had such an experience.

It was a lovely setting being right in the lakefront but the room did not look like the pictures on the website and there was a weird smell to the room upon entering. A little bit old and outdated, the queen bed was on wheels so moved alot and the harmonies did not work - which is essential in taupo winter with -3 degree mornings! Outdoor spa and pool was lovely though - such a good temperature for winter!

Stayed three nights in a two bedroom lakefront apartment. The unit was clean and tidy with great views but a little dated and probably due for renovation but great value for money and the extra bonus of being able to go next door to the Millennium Hotel for breafast and use of their facilities as well. The swimming pool was excellent and a great temperature for winter. All the staff we came in contact with were lovely and helpful. The only down for me was i booked a 2 bedroom as i recently had knee surgery and needed my own bed. Unfortunately the single beds in the 2nd bedroom were quite small and not really suitable for adults, they would be perfect for children though. Location is perfect, right on the water front and est access to walkway. This was our third stay at this motel and previously had stayed in the 1 bedroom apartments next to the pool.

Beautiful view of the lake which was right on our front door. We loved the grotto pool also. Older style units, but nice bedding, great water pressure in the shower and we could cook which all made for a comfortable family stay with a million dollar view.
