St Karas Retreat Cottage rests on the 50 acre property of Saint Enoch and Saint Elijah Monastery in Northland, New Zealand. Set a kilometre off SH12, nestled in forest, overlooking the surrounding volcanic hills and pastures, it is ideal for a quiet retreat. The cottage sleeps 5 in 2 rooms, is fully equipped and self-catering. Please NOTE, there is no television so as to encourage respite, retreat and a slower pace. There is wifi. The property is in the middle of Northland with the east and west coasts an hour each way. There are gardens to sit in, places to wander and the contemplative community is on property but usually going about their prayer life and works unseen. It is a rural property with lots of bird life, free ranging chickens and ducks, bee hives and many gardens. The retreat cottage is set up as a Christian retreat house but we welcome persons of all faiths and none, as God wills. We are certain you will be blessed by your stay here.
