This hotel needs a gut job! It is past the point of being able to cleaned! The bedding was clean and fresh and that was the saving point! What I was charged for this room and what I received is ludicrous! I deserve a refund! Holiday Inn Express should be ashamed of themselves!

Everything was night..even the overnight front desk worker made sure we had everything we needed for the next morning... everyone was so nice to us...our check-in experience was nice also... highly recommend this hotel...me and my family will definitely stay again

Breakfast could have had a little work, the pancake maker was down and that thing is normally one of the miracles of modern technology. The bread and croissants had a little mold on it but bread tends to do that fast so I'm not worried about that. The room was immaculate and very comfortable, we've had a couple rooms where we've had to ask to be relocated so this was perfection. Staff is friendly as always, they really take pride in their work which is amazing. Laundry we didn't use. An added treat was seeing the pindo palm out front, I had never seen a fruiting palm tree so I took a few pictures so I can look it up later.

Front desk clerk was efficient with check-in. Room is older and has a smell when you first walk in (maybe a pet smell). The appearance of the room is good, colors and lighting. Bathroom floor is greasy and decided to put towels down to walk in without shoes. Closet space to hang clothes is convenient, nice pillows, overall okay.

First room we got the hot water did not work then the 2nd room we got was about 85 degrees and took 3 hours to cool off. Its obvious holiday inn bought a dilapidated hotel and just threw their name out front so you think you are getting quality. This room cost is double what it is worth based on the condition of the hotel. Beware. Just because its a big hotel name doesn't mean its a good one like it used-to mean.

The telephone system has been out for 2 YEARS (Re: Desk Clerk). No telephone service even to the front desk. Was told to use my cellphone -- then there was a wrangle getting the front desk number as it was not listed anywhere on hotel room info.

Good stay overall. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast included hot options which was very nice. My only complaint was the smell in the hallway, it was very unpleasant to exit the room. I believe it was due to other guests activities during the days I was there. Hopefully it isn’t like this all the time. Will stay here again on my next trip to Sylacauga.

Mildew/mold/

First outside appearance was distracting due to the huge pothole upon entering. At first glance, it smelled very nice and clean. It looked clean in the lobby, but when I got to my first room… It reeked of mildew/mold! Went to the front desk to tell the clerk that my room smelled like mildew and she’s not in her head “yes“. I asked her if she had any spray and she said she would look for some! And then she came back and said she didn’t have any spray. So we assume we could go ahead and do our best to get the smell out of the room and proceeded to get some rest and throughout the night was absolutely unable to sleep due to the overwhelming smell. That seems to get worse! Exhausted all of our options until finally went to the front desk and spoke to the overnight person after getting physically sickwho gladly switched our room. Just to find out that the TV didn’t work in that room nor the phone! There was no cord to the phone at all, and it was overwhelmingly exhausting! For the money that they ask per night, the service was not up to par compared to other Holiday Inn express stays that we’ve had. The breakfast was mediocre at best not heated . The best thing about this hotel in my opinion was the pool and the pool area… It was clean. The pool was beautiful and clean. The room was spacious and that gave reprieve from the horrible stay that we experienced! Manager tried to accommodate and was really nice howeverI’m just not used to getting this kind of service at all.
