The hotel is about to close in a few days, and it was evident as the hotel feels a little run down with general maintenance such a torn or worn carpets in common areas and the room we stayed in probably needed a fresh coat of paint - other than that - enjoyable stay. Would recommend but it closes in two days

Last Time

We live in greater Sydney and choose to stay a couple of times each year because of the old world charm of the property. It will be a shame to no longer repeat here. Staff have always been very accommodating and flexible when asked.

Always Superb

A beautiful home away from home. Beautifully decorated, very handy walk to the Quay and The Rocks. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. I can highly recommend a stay at The Sir Stamford.

This property is perfectly positioned near the heart of Sydney, with the Opera House and Circular Quay a 5 minute walk. The Botanic Gardens and the Art Gallery are also very close by. We upgraded to a larger room and were really happy with the spaciousness, amenities, cleanliness and the comfortable beds. The added bonus was that we had a view of Sydney harbour. This is not a modern hotel, rather it is old school with large marble bathrooms, good lighting and lots of room to move. Some of the furniture had seen better days but for the length of time we were there, it did not matter. I would definitely stay there again as it is so convenient and reasonably priced. This hotel is also well positioned particularly if you don't have a car and like to explore the city on foot.

This was a shockingly terrible hotel. Do not stay here. It is so dirty, warn with the paint peeling off the walls, the carpets stained everywhere and bad smells throughout. I can not believe this is a 5 star hotel. Moreover the service is poor; no one to help with bags. It is a scary hotel, almost feels like a hotel from a horror movie or something.
