Very Good

Nice room, clean and comfortable. Easy check in with Mel, she gave us the full low-down on arrival. Unexpected live band but not too noisy in the room (what do you expect, it is a pub) and they closed down by about 11:30. Would gladly stay again

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
When we were shown to our room, initially I thought it was very well presented and looked like a lovely, cosy place to stay. However as we settled in I began noticing some cleanliness issues. There was toothpaste marks on the sink in the bathroom which had been left by previous guests and not cleaned properly. The chairs in the room were extremely grubby and dusty and covered in stains.
We then went down for dinner at 7pm an hour after checking in, only to be told the kitchen had closed.
The blind in the room was covered god knows how many dead bugs stuck to the blind. There were spiders, flies and other bugs rolled up in it. There was also mould on the bathroom ceiling and wall.
I explained some of the issues when i checked out but i didnt feel like staff cared. Have also emailed feedback and not heard back from them. Very disappointing and wouldnt return.
Arrived on Monday 27th for a 2 night stay but I left the the following morning. On first inspection during the late my room, no 1 Peacock looked fabulous & spotless but the Bar Maid struggled to open the door. However .. when I returned later at 9.30pm I could not open the bedroom door so I had to go down & ask another bar maid to open it for me. She fiddled & faffed about & eventually managed to open it. With the main light on I noticed the following:
I unpacked got ready for bed then fancied a mug of tea but when I looked inside the kettle it was stained BLACK yuk!
I noticed that the bedding had a dirty mark on the duvet cover (which was so thin it felt like a sheet). I had to lay my coat on top of me to keep me warm!
The sink had a crack and only one tap worked. The worst is yet to come.
The panelling on the bath was awful black mouldy, disgusting & was hidden by a grey bin. The glass shower door seal was rotten split shredded and mouldy.
I was so tired just wanted to go to sleep.
Summing up it was shabby dirty & mouldy. The Kettle was black. I couldn't close the rotten bathroom windows. All in all a disaster. I had intended to have breakfast the next morning but didn't want to. I would not recommend The Tawney Owl to my worst enemy. The staff were polite but I want to take this further.
What a dump don't go there .. please don't go there! I have taken 8 photographs as proof. I require the email address of the General Manager for a refund for 1 night.
Room very clean, friendly staff, good food. Ran out of pump beer over 2 days though!

Liked: Staff & service
To start we only paid £55 so i wasnt expecting it to be 10/10, the bed was ok comfortable enough for a 2 day stay (pillows dreadful - take your own), the room itself was fine (2 chairs was a bonus) although dusty, my biggest bug bear was the noise right outside the window coming from a extractor fan/kitchen? But as i say for £55 it was OK and I'm pretty sure there were better rooms than the Courtyard that we were allocated (although others were available, which seemed strange.....)
We had a great stay at The Tawny Owl. Lovely clean room, comfy bed, decent facilities and a great price meant that itvwas fantastic value. We ate in the pub restaurant and found the food really good and the selection of beers was excellent.
Lovely rooms, spacious clean modern and quiet. The bathroom could do with some TLC, the sink pipe work was making strange noises and shower was off the bath. Great food available in restaurant attached we highly recommended the restaurant for food. Great size portions, very well priced and delicious. Staff were lovely.

Bathroom could do with a lick of paint and some new grout
Staff were super friendly and helpful
Liked the property as clean and had a lovely bath. The food was good even if they forgot to put sausages on my breakfast. Very easily sorted one i spotted them missing.
Great staff and a nice atmosphere. Busy but not too crowded
Friendly welcome ok check in. Pub was really busy which is great to see. Food nice. Bed very uncomfortable unfortunately room was a decent size.
