Would not recommend staying there

Lack of off-street parking. Staff were extremely rude. Basic amenities not provided and when told about this, received rude responses. Accommodations were very damp, musty-smelling, and not acceptable to stay there. Lack of proper heating besides 2 small plug-in heaters.

We stayed in The glamping tents which are nice but…. Person that checks you in wasn’t there, not enough towels, had to ask for toilet paper, no coffee in the room, no paper towels, running sawmill close by for noise. My son left his pillow, I emailed several times with no response, even though it states in their auto email reply that they will mail any left behind objects back to you. It’s a good concept but poorly run facility.

Our suite was locked. When we finally reached someone, we were told that it should be unlocked and just go in. The communication was through text so we had to text again and let them know it was definitely locked.and then wait for them to read their text. When they finally responded , they said they could not come unlock the door but would contact someone else. We had to wait more than 30 minutes for someone to come unlock the door. The manager said that he would give us a discount for having to wait. He was nice. We did not get a discount. We have been texting and calling for 2 weeks. After the first reply they have not replied again. The phone remains unanswered. Our credit card has been charged the full original price. Text are not answered. We had a deck. A chair on the deck was broken. The deck was dirty. The TV would not work. They sent someone to fix it. She was nice. She fixed the TV , but it took so long that we were ready for bed by the time it was fixed. We did at least have it for the rest of our stay. The listing says daily housekeeping , but we did not have that and did not have enough towels. Our suite was cold. They said the suite attached to ours had the central air control but we could turn on the wall unit heater in our bedroom. I would not stay again.

We stayed in the bird song room. It was a separate building with a balcony that overlooked the elk river. We had to leave early so didn't have breakfast. Cafe had good pizza and beer selection.

The deck was extremely nice. Parking was absolutely terrible. No designated parking. The dome was not clean thoroughly prior to getting there and the kitchenette was not restocked and the coffee pot was broken. Other than these things, it was a nice stay though. The deck redeem the whole thing.

Will be going back and staying longer!

We had absolutely no problem staying at Elk River except our stay wasn't long enough. The young lady who registered us in at 8pm was lovely and another young lady saw us at our car, in the rain, getting our luggage and stopped to help us carry it all to our room. Our Bird Song room was wonderful and clean, we enjoyed every minute except it was just too short. We travel quite a bit from through West Virginia and Elk River will definitely be a stop along the way, making sure we stay a few days to really enjoy it.

Easy access off I-79 and a welcome change from the cookie cutter sleep cheap places that I have historically frequented. The room was 100% as shown in the photos and was a clean, quiet, comfortable place to stay. On-site bar and dinner offerings were great. My only regret was that I had to get up early and get back on the road so I missed out on what was likely a nice breakfast in their cafe. I'll be going back!

Elk River hotel and cafe

We absolutely loved staying here. It was super clean quaint and the staff was very kind. It was like stepping back in time. Our room was beautiful. Very colorful and bright. Beautiful furnishings and the grounds were amazing. Right on Elk River and very quiet. Its a little bit off the highway but well worth the drive. We ate at the restaurant and the food was delicious. We will definitely come back again.

Loved the Snow room for having a veranda to relax on and easy access to the river to contemplate the beauty of creation. Nice place for the price. Easy check-in and checkout. The hotel decor is gorgeous. Very convenient to the new Elk River Rail trailhead in Gassaway where we biked. We arrived Saturday evening and it was tricky finding a place to park so we were down the block a little ways, but after that we had no issues. The grounds are beautiful but could use some love and care (weeding) and grass removal after mowing.
