The cabin was clean, comfortable with good facilities. The only problem was the flaky WiFi which made the streaming TV services problematic and online computing slow. Whether that was a Big 4 issue or a Strahan issue, i don't know.

We stayed Monday to Friday the rubbish bin was not emptied at all, the weather was terrible (rained/cold all week) didn't get the offer of new towels. The smoke alarm went off the 1st night twice as the reception does not open until 11am I informed the housekeeper (she did all she could at the time). the alarm went off the next two nights not a lot was done to rectify the problem.

Cabin 4 was just plain awful. Having stayed in many Big4 properties this one was a huge let down. Old and dated doesn’t even cover it. No smoke alarm. Sofa bed was 25 years plus and so uncomfortable to sit on. The main bed Mattress springs were noisy and in some parts lumpy. No heating apart from a freestanding unit that struggled to heat anything at all. So we froze. The electric blanket was just plain dangerous with a test tag due date of 2022, with single insulated wires exposed. Very dangerous. As we had tours booked for the full two days we stayed we didn’t have time to visit the office when it was open to complain, otherwise we would have missed our pre booked activities. The whole cabin smelt. We were so disappointed and do not recommend these cabins.

Great location, lovely reception staff… but they don’t open til 11. The cabin we were in is tired, getting a bit rough around the edges from age and use. The shower is not for anyone taller than 5ft, but at least it’s a door not a shower curtain. Generally everything felt like it needed an extra wipe down, especially the toilet /bathroom walls. The playground looked amazing… was a bit too wet for us to use unfortunately. The laundry facilities are relatively neat, but overpriced at $6 for a ‘Cold Quick Cycle’ with signs telling you repeatedly that if you choose another cycle you’ll loose your money. It’s also $6 for 45min of drying, and even with a small to moderate load it didn’t dry. Overall, I’d probably look for somewhere else to stay next time.

We three stayed 2 nights in an onsite cabin as we wanted to be budget friendly on this part of trip. Cabin was very clean, if not a bit dated, but fresh towels and bed linen. There were extra blankets. As it was August the bunk beds were very cold as no electric blanket though the main double bedroom did have one. All in all, it was good value for money, and we enjoyed our stay

Although we booked a family room for 4 adults, it was really hard for us over 70 to climb up to the top bunk. And my 80 year old husband had to sleep in the bottom bunk which had a board down the middle with a thin mattress. I ended up putting the lounge cushions on the floor and tried to sleep with the noisy air conditioner.

The Big 4 is in an ideal location to walk to the key activities and areas of interest in Strahan - easy walk to Hogarth Falls, the foreshore for the boat rides and train ride. Has laundry on site and cafe and bottle shop
