Enjoyed every day of my stay, the staff Paul and Anna were excellent, if you visit make sure you put your car reg plate in at the tablet at the main desk, cant wait to come back, the place has alot of character. Deffo one of my favs to stay!

Although the property required updating and attention, the staff were very helpful and caring. My mum took ill during our stay and the staff were amazing and helpful. A great team in a hotel with so much potential and quiet surroundings. Very peaceful 😌

Excellent value for money and what the place lacked in terms of maintenance and upkeep is more than made up for in the range of facilities and friendliness of staff. It’s a huge place to upkeep and would likely swallow £1m to fully renovate and refurbish …so doubtless the owners are hoping for a big lotto win like the rest of us.

Hotel is very dated but the bed and room were clean. Tv didn’t work but reported on checking out. You get what you pay for and the rooms were cheap so I couldn’t have any complaints. Just used it for a base for Alton towers

You get what you pay for in life, good price for what you get but the air conditioning situation was horrible in the 20 odd degree heat in our room. I would recommend to bring a fan. I would definitely use this hotel again as the swimming pool was great and has a gym and nice outside area aswell as friendly lovely staff.

The staff tried their best, however the room was poorly kept, all towels and pillows given had brown stains on, the bathroom was not clean, lighting was very dim and the walls were paper thin. Only stayed one night and that was bad enough.

The hotel is going through updating, the swimming pool was ok, the room was very dated, the bath panel was broken but all we wanted was a bed for 1 night. When we left one if the updated rooms was open and I must say they looked beautiful. When this hotel is finished I'm quite sure it will be of good standard.

Stayed at the hotel after a long day at alton towers. Staff were friendly and rooms easy to find, the rooms were clean and had a great night sleep before driving 3.5 hours home the next day. My son enjoyed the swimming pool. The hotel is run down but still beautiful with vintage tiled floors, beautiful garden. The bathroom was very outdated, for the price it suited us perfectly. There is a pub attached to the hotel which is lovely and not badly priced, there were 3 beautiful cats hanging around so if your planning on a stay bring cat treats, they will appreciate it

Stayed here for 2 nights found the staff not very chatty or friendly,room is very dated and had stains on the curtains and on the mattress protecter , black stain on the pillows , could have done with some chairs on the balcony too , location was very good and very quiet,I know it’s a old building but some modernising in the rooms would be good .we didn’t use any off the facilities as we was only there for a family emergency.but wouldn’t stay again

Didn’t receive a warm friendly welcome on arrival. When I checked into the room I was greeted with a unflushed toilet. After stepping out of the shower that evening I nearly stepped on a razor blade that was left on the floor. Bed could’ve been more comfortable but the sheets were clean. If they offer you a fan, take it!!

Really badly ran hotel. No WiFi, no food on site, no breakfast. Music blasting till early hours of the morning. No 24 hr reception. Just a really really poor hotel I now know why it was so cheap! Will not be returning.

the hotel has recently changed hands and so is in somewhat a state of flux and thus in need of improvement. Likewise the buildings are in need of repair. My room was clean and tidy, though without air conditioning on one of the hottest days of the year took some time to cool down to allow sleep. I wasn't prepared with a costume in order to enjoy the pool. The barman was helpful and chatty and the abbot ale was welcome. It was, for the price paid, perfectly reasonable value for money. I hope the new owners will make the necessary investments and see the clientele return in numbers and as the quiet location is very good.

Entrance from the main road was a bit confusing. Two signs but one driveway was closed off. Carpark was a free for all. Park wherever you like it seemed as people also parked for the pub & really bad pot holes. Hotel entrance was deserted & bare. No signage of where to check in. Walked through a hallway with lovely original tiles & staircase & through a entertainment lounge. Small reception desk by the pool. Made sure I entered my car reg on the tablet & got an email copy aswel. Got given the key (room 4). Went up the stairs (no lift access) to the room & what a shock.
