We recently stayed in the upper unit of Mandavilla with a group of four adults. While the property has potential with incredible views and nice overall amenities, several issues significantly impacted our stay.One of the bathrooms had no hot water. Although the maintenance team was responsive, it still took four days to resolve the problem. During that time, repair tools were left throughout the bathroom when workers were not present, and the light fixture had been removed for wiring related to a new water pump. This made the space unusable and required us to adjust our plans for several days to allow everyone time to get ready.We also experienced a power outage one evening. We specifically chose Mandavilla because it was advertised as having a functioning generator, but we later learned the generator had been out of service for some time—information that was never communicated to us.In addition to these issues, several aspects of the property were in poor condition. The grill had seen better days, and the deck boards surrounding the pool were hazardous, with rotting wood and exposed nails.I attempted to address these concerns with the owner, but she was not receptive and stated, “That’s just the way it is in St. John.” Based on our experience, I would not recommend this property.
