Enjoy unplugged moments and a connection to the landscape. perfect for reading retreats! This cabin does not have electricity, running water, or traditional plumbing.
--->GETTING THERE: Access to the cabin requires a 1/4 mile nature walk on a path through a wildflower meadow. Enjoy the fresh air as you connect with nature. Absolutely no motor vehicles are allowed on the path. The path is marked by solar lights at night. If using the path a night, we recommend bringing a flashlight from home.
A 4-wheeled trolley cart is provided for you to effortlessly ferry your belongings back and forth.
This is a private cabin on the back of our personal property. Out of respect for our neighbors, please stay on the walk path and within the mowed boundary around the cabin.
--->SUGGESTIONS OF WHAT TO BRING: Bottled water, flashlight, battery operated fan, cooler with ice, proper clothes and shoes for walking, bug spray, portable solar shower. For the ultimate screen-free trip, bring some books!
--->ACCESS TO THE LOFT: Please look carefully at the listing pictures!! The loft access (where the beds are) is only accessed by a wood ladder. If you have mobility issues, balance issues, are afraid of heights, or cannot properly use a ladder, please seriously consider if this is the right place for you. Your safety and comfort is important to us.
Because of the loft access, and lack of railing, no person under the age of 18 is allowed to stay in the cabin without prior approval. For the safety of your children, please be respectful of this rule.
--->HEATING/COOLING: A propane fireplace, located in the living room heats the entire cabin. There is NO air conditioning and NO fans. You might consider bringing a battery operated fan for your comfort.

It has a locking door with a window and curtains for privacy. A bucket of wood shavings is provided to cover your waste and keep the smell down.
--->EXTERIOR: The exterior of the cabin boasts front and back covered porches. The front porch overlooks the wildflower meadow and is perfect for watching sunsets, summer storms, and stargazing. Enjoy wildlife like whitetail deer, turkeys, and sandhill cranes. Disconnect from technology as you play a game of croquet in the front yard.
The back porch is a great place to cook dinner while enjoying the rustic experience of having a bonfire. The back yard butts up to woods for privacy, with views of open meadow to the west. Speaking of the west, use the binoculars in the cabin to see if you can spot the bison and horses that graze on a nearby farm!
--->KITCHEN/DINING AREA: The back door enters into the kitchen/dining area, where you'll find ample space and essentials to prep your meals. The dry sink has a 5 gallon water dispenser for washing dishes and for washing up. We supply 15 total gallons of water for the dispenser. The table has ample seating for enjoying meals, a game of cards, and board games. One of a kind animal mounts and rustic decorations adorn the whole downstairs.
The beautiful, out of commission, wood cook stove is the shining star of the kitchen space. We've left it for your viewing pleasure, however, it is no longer in working order.
Please Note: In warm summer months, a hand pump is available, and is located on the front porch of the cabin.
--->LIVING AREA: The living room is perfectly situated at the front of the cabin. A 9-foot wide window affords full views of the meadow. Sit on the leather couch and let the propane fireplace warm you in the cold months. The front door in the living room leads you to the front porch, which is the perfect spot to wrap in a wool blanket and sip morning coffee.
--->LOFT/SLEEPING AREA: Head up the wood ladder to the open loft, but please use both hands. You will be pleasantly surprised to find a cozy queen sized bed on one side, and 3 twin beds on the other. Be sure to check out the unique wallpaper! We've included a hand crank Victrola with records for those days when you miss Spotify. The loft is a shared space, but does provide some privacy when the curtain divider is drawn.
