Escape to this inviting holiday home at Carlyon Bay and take in the sea views out across St Austell Bay. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom retreat is ideal for a small family or a couple on a Cornish break together. An annexe to the owner’s home, the cottage enjoys its privacy and comes with its own patio where you and your companions can bask in the sunshine after your days out. It is 0.5 miles from Carylon Bay for beach lovers and is right on the South West Coast Path for those who enjoy walking.

Step into this airy hideaway via the sliding patio doors and find yourselves in an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Unpack the fresh Cornish produce you have bought and start whipping up lunch in the kitchen area. Dine at the table inside or out on the patio. Spend your evenings relaxing together on the soft seating inside, taking turns to plan the night’s viewing. When you are ready to retire for the night, you’ll find one of your bedrooms, a twin, also at ground-floor level. A double bedroom is up on the first floor of the property. This gorgeous room, which has charming, sloped ceilings creating some restricted head height, captures the sea views. The cottage’s shower room, which adjoins the double bedroom, is up here too. Decide whether to have breakfast out in the sunshine every morning before heading off on the next adventure.

Head to the beach at Porthpean, 2.5 miles away, or Pentewan, 6 miles away, for a change of scene. Visit the scenic fishing village of Mevagissey, 7 miles away, and plan an afternoon or two out in the fashion coastal town of Fowey, about the same distance from the cottage. While you are here catch the ferry across the estuary to the delightful village of Polruan.
