South Burlington is an expansive suburb in northwestern Vermont boasting everything from wilderness areas and office parks, to condominium complexes and shopping malls. Many people come to the area to visit the large University Mall and surrounding retail outlets. Nature lovers can hike easy trails through Red Rocks Park that end on the banks of Lake Champlain. Overlook Park is accessible by car and provides a panoramic view of the lake and surrounding terrain, which is beautiful at sunset.
The easiest way to get around South Burlington is in a car or the few buses that run to the industrial parks and the University Mall. Bicycling is made possible by bike trails and lanes along the major routes. The Burlington International Airport (BTV), located in South Burlington, is the primary airport for the entire state of Vermont.
Summer and spring in South Burlington are often warm, sunny and pleasant, but Vermont winters can be very cold. South Burlington's are restaurants mostly located around the University Mall. Popular events in town include First Night, which is an arts festival held on New Year's Eve, the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival in late May and the Brewers Festival, which takes place in July to celebrate Vermont's 30 breweries.
