Let's start with where the hotel is located, Le Mar Iowa.... also known as "the sewer city" for the smell. In the room I stayed in the past was coming off the walls, the sheets were dirty, the bathroom floor tiles were broken and coming up.

In defense of the property, they did say they were in process of updating, and some problems we had were beyond their control. But overall stay was not pleasant. First we had to move out of room due to a sprinkler above breaking, which resulted in a waterfall feature appearing in our bathroom. The room they moved us to had broken tiles in the bathroom that shifted when you walked on them. Then we lost sleep due to nearby train tracks and train whistles repeatedly blowing at 4:30 am and after. By the time we finally were able to fall asleep again, we overslept and missed breakfast. The staff was very accommodating and found us some donuts and muffins despite having put things away. So overall, very accommodating staff, and convenient location, but little else to recommend the property.
