Underwhelming

Car park very confusing, signage doesn't make sense. Entry lobby, bar etc clean, modern and really nice. We checked in when there was no queue, sadly the chap checking us in did so in a manner that seemed to imply we'd interrupted him doing something more interesting. Higher level corridors, and the room, carpet dated and sporting loads of stains. The room (Executive), dated, artex-style walls, under the bed thick on dust and with a food wrapper Large TV with freeview facing neither the bed nor sofa. Bed really uncomfy, with very soft pillows (great if that's your thing, it's not ours). Had a drink in bar, barman very freindly and helpfull. Really good breakfast range, pastries under hot lamps a nice touch. Sadly, while looking good, cooked elements were bland, sausages had little taste, bacon took a lot of chewing, hash browns overcooked, scrambled egg very dry, beans good though. Didn't go in, but the gym looked good, as did the pool, although tiny. Overall 'fine' mixed with dissapointing

Room too cold

The only issue I had was the temperature of the room. The thermostat was set at the highest temperature, however it still felt really cold and by the end of the trip I had a cold and sore throat.

Look elsewhere in city centre Sheffield

On arrival, the car park situation set the tone. The small front section with about a dozen spaces was already full. The pre-arrival email was laughably out of date, talking about events from six months ago, yet failing to mention the crucial detail that beyond a set of unmarked steel shutters lies the actual covered car park. The shutters give every impression of being a service entrance for bins or deliveries, not somewhere guests should drive. Without signage or clear instructions, it was needlessly confusing. I wasn’t the only one left scratching my head. The receptionist on Friday evening was perfunctory at best. Parking is run by a third party and costs £18 a night. I was told that leaving and re-entering would be a “problem” as you must pay at the terminal every time—completely absurd compared to other hotels where you just register your plate once and are then exempt. Breakfast is also £18, but when my family tried to treat me one morning, the hotel couldn’t add it to their room. I was assured it was sorted, yet still charged at checkout. The bar was like a graveyard on Friday night. No air conditioning in the room meant either a stuffy room or city-centre noise through the window. All in all, an underwhelming stay. Poor communication, unhelpful staff, confusing parking, and no atmosphere. I would not stay here again.

Very Dated Rooms

The hotel lobby and bar look nice but the rooms are very dated. The bathroom and toilet are separate which is strange. The bed was rock hard as were the pillows although the room was quiet. It is very convenient but parking is a problem, we had to park in the Q parking which was £23 a day.
