This hotel is a good choice for first time visitors to Shanghai. The location is excellent and central to many tourist areas. The staff were friendly and housekeeping was very good. The room is spacious and the shower is big and comfortable to use. I found the numerous lighting switches in the room confusing to use. But that is a very small matter. There was some construction noise at times during the night from a nearby renovation project, but it was almost completed. Otherwise the room was quiet. The breakfast buffet was very good. My only concern is that I found the music to be too loud. I would recommend something relaxing like traditional Chinese music for a breakfast buffet. There are several metro exits near the hotel. The closest exit has only stairs. However Nanjing road exit 2 has both an elevator and escalator.

This hotel is old and small for Shanghai standards. Some staff was quite rude maybe it was the language barrier that made it sound rude. The only good thing about this hotel is the location.

Modern, quality hotel in the centre of Shanghai

Clean, modern, quality hotel in the very centre of Shanghai. Plenty of shopping immediately outside the hotel, with Shanghai Old Town and the Bund less than 1 mile walk. We arrived before 09:00. Nice welcome from the staff, who held our bags while we waited for check-in to open. A big thank you to Michael who let us check-in early when a room became available. All staff were very pleasant and helpful. Michael and Echo were brilliant. Breakfast was delicious and more than sufficient. Room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. We'll definitely stay here again.

Although this a nice hotel, the night street noise of metal clanking from the square, where people were workin was keeping me up. We had a non smoking room, but there was a smell of smoke in the corridor leading to the room and a musty smell in the room. We had to keep the window open during the 40°C temperature so it was hot. If tte 'Do jot disturb sign' was put, maids would still knock on the door twice and then telephone the room in the afternoon to confirm that we don't want the room cleaned. Sometimes we went out in the early mornings and in then in the late afternoon to avoid the heat. Although towels were changed regularly the dressing gown was not. Room service was good.
