Lovely cottage with a kind and helpful owner.

Lovely cottage with a kind and helpful owner. Close to Pickering, York, Scarborough and Whitby, a great base.Unfortunately, the house and village has almost no mobile phone reception and no WiFi. There are no shops in the village, though Pickering is only a 10 minute drive. We loved our week in this quiet part of Yorkshire.

We enjoyed our stay here yes it was a bit basic needs a little tlc, but I'm not going to knock it .. Needs a grab rail in the shower and we had a problem with the microwave nothing life threatening we told the owner he said he d replace it but I'd go back minus the darned flies

It was our first time to be near the moors and we found the location very quiet and peaceful, with it being in a rural location, the place itself was a lovely cottage with room to park the car so you are straight into the cottage the inside of the cottage was very clean and plenty of a well equipped kitchen, the living room had a very comfortable suite and the bedrooms were pleasant, had a lovely bathroom with a big shower cubicle, we had a seating area in the enclosed garden which was nice, there were plenty of good places to eat and Pickering was only a short drive anyway, overall we really enjoyed our break, will definitely be booking a return visit next year,

A nice clean holiday cottage that was fine for what we wanted and good value.

A nice clean holiday cottage that was fine for what we wanted and good value. Cupboards were adequate although cheap and flimsy. Kitchen nicely fitted out. No WiFi, limited TV coverage and be prepared to walk down the lane for telephone reception.

Cottage was warm and well equipped although the sofa and chair were rather large for us of a smaller stature! Despite several attempts we never got more than a few drops of water from the shower so we couldn’t use it for the 2 weeks we were there. Cottage was clean apart from quite a few cobwebs, and an old dog biscuit under the armchair! Our dogs had brought their own so weren’t interested! No amenities in the village but we didn’t expect any - nearest shop was in Thornton, about 3 miles away, or a good selection in Pickering, about 7 miles away. We expected this. What was good was the nearby public footpath for those early morning and late night strolls for the dogs. On the whole a good choice of cottage but I’ve not given it top marks because of the shower, which I think should have worked, and the cobwebs.
