Great neighborhood. Apartment very run down, shades falling apart,hole in comforter.bathroom...everything broken, mold everywhere,kitchen poorly stocked, wifi intermittent,no one to contact on weekend

too loud to sleep

This apartment is on top of a courtyard with over 1 resturants which is cool, but if you want to sleep it's insanely loud until about 2am. If you party every night past 2 you'll be fine. Also paid for air conditioning and the apartment didn't have it. Also didn't have any sharp knives to cook with and only one small pot.

Good location, but maintenance needed

All and all, I was disappointed. There was black mold in the bathroom and a bathroom fan that didn't pull any moisture out. There was no housekeeping for our five day stay. There were three of us and exactly three towels-no hand towels or wash clothes.. One towel accidently fell in the toilet. We asked if we could get a dry towel. Although we continued to ask, we were given the run around and never received a towel. One of us ended up drying with a sheet for three days. These rooms could be nice and we loved the location. Unfortunately our room is in need of new mattresses, a fresh coat of paint, and a working fan in the bathroom to prevent mold. The people down stairs should keep a few extra supplies on hand. We bought our own toilet paper. There is a lovely restaurant and bar downstairs which is convenient but this makes for noisy evenings.

Nice 1 bed apt

This hotel is a small apartment in the Las tarria neighborhood. Bars and restaurants are right outside the lobby. It's a nice place to stay and feel at home. My only hiccup was that the bed "queen" was two twins combined. But I did not care nor inquire at all with the hotel staff. It was fine. If you are comparing to a US hotel definitely not bad for the price

Modern apartment overlooking a small, lively plaza

I stayed at Mela Blu for 4 nights in early March 2014. The location of the apartment is great--close to Cerro Santa Lucia and about 15-20 minutes walk to the start of Bellavista, home to many of Santiago's nightclubs. There's a large supermarket close by which is great for apartment stays. The apartment overlooks a small, lively plaza and there are many nice restaurants close by. This is great for sleeping in but not the greatest if you like to go to bed early as the restaurants are busy until around 02:00. The apartment was spacious with modern furnishings, however some were a little worn (e.g., damaged venetian blinds). Wifi, which was included in the price, never worked during my entire stay and the staff didn't seem concerned about fixing it. It didn't even work in the front desk area so I feel the advertising of wifi with this property is not appropriate. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and feel I could have rated it as excellent if the wifi situation was greatly improved.

Unfortunately a very noisy environment.

Nice rooms, no air conditioning, and one room was very warm. Kitchen was great and very well equipped, fridge, stove, oven, toaster, equipped to prepare and serve most any meal. The courtyard below the rooms is used by several restaurants for outdoor seating. The folks there create a roar of noise until two or three each morning. I you are out partying all night yourself, this is not a problem, but if you want to sleep, find another place to stay.

Good for Business

Located in Lastarria

I stayed at Mela Blu over Christmas and had an excellent experience. The hotel was more like an apartment so there were no hotel amenities like vending machines, but it had a full kitchen with pots, pans, and dishes. There was no AC or heat in our room but the weather was perfect so it hardly went noticed. We stayed on the sixth floor towards the back so our room was not directly over the restaurants downstairs, but I could imagine it gets loud some nights if your room faces that side. Mela Blu was super clean but was furnished with IKEA type furnishings so in a couple years the place will probably need a serious face-lift. Id say for price, location, and staff friendliness this is a great find. Oh, the queen bed was two smaller beds pushed together.....only mildly annoying

Very pleasant stay

I really liked this hotel. It was just as comfortable as home, very centrally located and close to more than a dozen great restaurants. The neighborhood was very nice and safe. The room itself was not as clean on the surface - things like fingerprints on the walls and worn kitchen utensils. However, the important things - bathroom, bed, linens were clean. The towels were very soft, but also had some holes and could use a refresh. Overall it's a 3 star quality, but for what you pay, the spacious room, the kitchen and the comforts of home, it's a 4 star experience. Some important things to note: the staff is not there after 7pm, but there is a security guard at the building entrance. There is no air conditioning and it can be hot in the summer. There is a lot of noise in the evenings and especially on Saturday night from the restaurants outside the building. If you go to bed early and you're a light sleeper this will absolutely be a problem. If you need wifi, specify that in your reservation because it works better in some rooms than in others. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

Great location, great price.

This is actually not an hotel. It is an apartment. Great location. Very central and close to great restaurants. I liked it a lot because it has everything you need to be comfortable. The apartment is almost new. The downside there is no hotel personnel or any hotel like services.

Great location and price

The place has a great location in Lastarria, near Bellas Artes and Parque Forestal. Metro is one block away but try to avoid it from 7-9 am and 6-8 pm... you won't get in!!!

Beautiful neighbourhood: great value

Very happy with the apartment, compared to other places I have stayed in Santiago it was extremely good value and in the perfect location (Lastarria neighbourhood is beautiful and close to metro stop).

Great location

This is not a hotel, it is apartment that are for short term rental. And extremely difficult to find. Thankfully someone assisted me with this. In saying that the apartment was really nice, clean, and in a great location.

Lost opportunity in Lastaria

Cheap, and very tacky. Broken toilet seat, disintegrating curtains, almost no kitchen utensils (apart from cutlery, pots, and crockery). Definitely not a fullly equipped kitchen. Also no air conditioning, and with courtyard restaurants below, the noise through open windows is very loud.A fantasatic loction, and they could have done so much more with the apartment.

Ourstanding setting.

The dorr staff speaks only Spanish, but they can summon a nearby English speaker who is very helpful. The location of the hotel/arartment is outstanding, in a preey little courtyard off LaStarria, one of the most attractive artist's streets in Santiago. Many excellent restyaurant nearby and the town center and Neruda museum in easy walking distance. The little kitchette is an attractive extra.

Some problems but great location

WiFi did not work during my stay. Hotel does not provide ammenities. No alarm clock or A/C in rooms, but nights are usually cool in Santiago so open windows do the trick. Outdoor cafe outside the window can get a little loud, but not too bad. Plenty of eateries within walking distance. Room was nicely decorated and conveniently located. I would have appreciated an information packet with restaurants that deliver, addresses to retailers that sell toiletries, and instructions for dialing from the room. Emergency toiletries would have been helpful even if at a fee. Hotel personnel was pleasant and helpful.
