We stayed at Sandbar Hostel & Hotel in a private room and had a great experience. The room was excellent value and included strong AC, a safe, large TV, private bathroom, private balcony, and clothing rack. Like many hotels in this category, the shower wasn’t fully enclosed so a bit of water splashed onto the mat, but it was very minor. The bed was comfortable (about an 8/10 for me), and the balcony was perfect for drying beach towels quickly.
The rooftop patio was a highlight. Watching the sunset with a cocktail was fantastic, and Juan, the bartender, was excellent. The freshwater pool and variety of seating areas made it easy to relax.
Service was outstanding. Allen at the front desk was efficient, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our stay top notch. Housekeeping was also excellent, with every clean feeling like a full reset.
The attached Sandbar restaurant was reliable and open until 11:00 pm, which is rare in San Pedro and a huge perk after diving. Chuck and Robbie’s dive shop is about 100 feet away, and there’s a grocery store (Kmart) right around the corner. We’d absolutely stay here again.
