We chose this resort due to amenities offered for the whole family, and its location away from mainland. It was the best choice for us - the spa was heavenly with a couple treatments & massages for my husband and me, the whole staff was excellent (especially Captain Mario and Angelita at the restaurant), our room was clean & spacious with great views and we loved the pools. Food was perfectly made, decadent and refreshing options - my favorite was the lomo and french toast & chilaquiles with themed menu and drinks every night. Kids loved the pool and fun activities staff planned every day.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make all our arrangements successful. We took day trips to town, went diving and snorkeling and took a ferry to Caye Caulker. The staff offers to book dives, arrange the taxi boat, will look up ferry schedules and have a golf cart delivered. The boat captains dropped us off directly at the ferry and dive shop, which was super nice. The resort is far but the boat taxis were key to making our trip enjoyable. Renting a golf cart was easy, the drive to town took 1 hour and was thrilling and hilarious how bumpy the road is. The 2 bedroom suite was amazing, plenty of room to relax, beds were comfortable and showers were hot. The food was pretty good, standing menu with specials that changed each night. Didn’t understand why reservations were needed for breakfast and dinner since meals were included in the package, we did our best to remember but definitely could sense the irritation when we forgot to make them. My only complaint and I hate to mention it, is the sargassum, it was so bad. Depending on which way the wind blew, it would smell up our room with rotting ferment which gave us headaches. Reef Haven’s at a disadvantage since it’s located in a cove, so it collects in masses and doubles daily, it requires early action to avoid the ferment and so much manpower to remove it. Overall, with exception of the smell it was a great experience to explore the island and meet the locals.

Getting to the hotel was good and it was as advertised, they picked you up from the airport and took a 30 minute boat to the resort. Being an all inclusive resort, we were looking forward to relaxing, enjoying the beach, pool, and activities

First thing you need to know- when they say it’s remote- it’s remote. What people are trying to say is - you’re stuck. To get anywhere is gonna cost you. We found out too late that you could rent a golf cart in town for about $50/day average. If you’re going to want one after you get there and figure out you need one- then it’s $155 for a day because they have to bring it and then keep it for $50ish dollars per day after that. Yes you can take their boat back to town for $30pp. Our last day we found out a large group could rent the property van. We never got very straight answers from the front desk about it all. If you’re going to do any excursions- you need that transportation to get yourself to it and book it yourself. They quoted me almost $400 for a snorkel trip for 2 that if I could have gotten myself closer to town would have been $55 per person. Our room was pretty and large and the air conditioning worked well. My husband got some sort of bites all over him and we wonder if it’s from the couch in our room or sand fleas. I don’t have any bites. There is one restaurant and they have different theme nights to keep you from getting bored. It’s an all inclusive - but not a buffet which was nice. Our final night they stopped bringing tickets to the table. The food was good. We tipped our people just in cash. sargassum invasion the night before we got there. No beach- they tried though Eduardo the bartender and Salvador the boat captain seem to work their butts off.

I think the organization and communication could improve. We have heard the resort is under new ownership. Reef haven is beautiful and the staff were so kind. There were some mix ups with excursions we participated in. It was hard to book spa services as a couple. One of us did get a massage and it was great. The menu was frustrating and not very allergy friendly. We managed the menu and did not have any issues, however items were improperly marked (or not marked) gluten free. The resort was beautiful and we really liked our suite. The bar at the end of the dock was great to hang out at! Drinks were great. We were able to get fresh coconuts and food off the grill over at driftwood. Activities like yoga and karaoke were great. Please note the fine print and see that the resort is 30 minutes by boat ride away from the town of San Pedro. Overall we enjoyed our time, just a few unexpected hiccups during!

The staff and service at Reef Haven were amazing!! The dock, water at the dock, the pool, bars and restaurants were all wonderful and beautiful. Our room was clean, spacious, well decorated and had more amenities than we expected . We has a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo with kitchen, balconies and ocean view. The beach would be beautiful if it wasn’t for sargassum’s but that’s a problem all over the Caribbean facing this way. We only spent 2 nights and realized once we got there that they don’t offer all activities daily. We played pickle ball which was fun, on a nice court. But there was now snorkeling or family yoga on our full day there. However the boat transport team, concierge, bartenders, front desk, servers at the restaurant were all amazing! Food was excellent and so were the drinks, The swim up bar was very nice a they have nice sun loungers with umbrellas out on the dock. The water is clear off the dock with nice swimming and snorkeling too.

We had an ocean front suite that was immaculate inside, just needs some door seals to prevent the on shore breeze mixing with the foul stench of sargasm, the workers worked hard every day trying to clear it all. We loved relaxing on the jetti on the loungers, shame they didn't have one section to fish off of, no fishing allowed on their jetti, although you could just stand in the sea if need, as its really shallow. Food was excellent, i just wished they wouldn't light the fire pit when the wind was on shore, filled the restaurant with smoke. house reef/snorkel was rather dull, recommend they take their guests somewhere slightly better.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was amazing and the location was gorgeous! The food and drinks were also great! We were really frustrated because the Expedia listing said the resort had tennis courts which it does not! They also do not have bicycles as the website claims.

The ocean was visible from our room and the room was very clean and nice. The daily housekeeping was impeccable. Our only complaint was the smell from the seaweed that was dredged up on shore was very strong. They worked overtime every day to manage it and haul it away, but there was a big pile stacked near the rooms and the smell is just putrid. Fortunately, the wind blew every day that we were there and that helped to lessen the smell.

Our stay had incredible highlights but also serious concerns. Mario, our boat driver, was amazing from start to finish — professional, accommodating, and especially protective of our pregnant friend. We felt safe and cared for with him. Casi at the front desk went above and beyond, securing us a last-minute excursion that became the highlight of our trip and arranging rush delivery of delayed luggage once it arrived in Belize. A security guard also personally helped me to my penthouse when I was too sick to walk and ensured my friends knew I was safe. Unfortunately, we experienced repeated illness after eating at the resort, and other guests reported the same. The faucet water was brown, and after getting sick we boiled all water for brushing teeth and washing. Service at the main restaurant was inconsistent; one staff member was rude and repeatedly got orders wrong. Our pregnant friend was served a “cheeseburger” without a patty, then chicken instead. A replacement later contained plastic. Dining off-resort requires planning: Tranquility Bay is 6 minutes by golf cart but needs reservations; El Norte (excellent) is 30 minutes away. Anything farther requires long cart rides or a boat. A golf cart is essential. The 3-bedroom penthouse and pool were beautiful, but my birthday décor was delayed and $85 went missing. Staff like Mario and Casi were exceptional, but improvements are needed

staff were very friendly and welcoming, the rooms were nice and the bed was very comfortable. it is far from everything and costs money to go into town from the resort - there is two pools and a pickle ball court for entertainment, otherwise not much to do. we weren’t able to enjoy the beach due to all the seaweed despite them working hard to clear it. only one restaurant for meals with the same menu everyday, unfortunately my husband got food poisoning on the second to last day

Summary: It’s remote and has no local shops restaurants or things to do outside of resort. 25min boat trip to town (San Pedro) and cost $30usd per person for round trip. Staff were amazing and the saving grace in my opinion. There is 1 full restaurant and 1 lunch shack, nothing more. Good selection and quality of food. Amenities were lacking, 2 pools, pickleball court, kayaks and that’s it. It’s 1.25hr by golf cart or taxi via very small bumpy ride. The beach is covered by seaweed and the staff try their best to clear it but it’s not possible due to amount. Resort was previously owned and operated as margaritaville but sold and rebranded as Reef Haven. I cannot speak enough about the staff and their willingness to help and be friendly. Yani at the welcome center was so kind and informative. I would t go back personally due to its remoteness and limited amenities.
