Great place - comfortable, friendly, relaxing. Not upscale or fancy, but thoughtful and perfect for a couple. Very well run, lovely staff, beautiful jungle setting, and just a 20 minute walk into town.

Quiet Gem with Room for Improvement
Here's my 4-star review of Maya Mountain Lodge in San Ignacio, Belize:
I'm torn 'cause the spot's got prime location vibes – super quiet and close to nature. But, cleanliness was a bit off; sheets weren't exactly fresh-smelling, which threw off the whole experience. Plus, kitchen service was shut down, and that wasn't mentioned upfront in the listing. If they're gonna fix those kinks, this place could easily hit 5 stars. For now, it's solid 4 stars if you're looking for peace and don't mind some trade-offs. 😐
Loved my stay here, its cool lil spot tucked away in the jungle. Really cozy rooms and nice on-site restaurant where you can grab breakfast in the mornings and dinner after long day of exploring. Wonderful staff!
The property is beautifully maintained & perserved. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, & responsive. They supplied alot of opportunities for activities in the area & with discounts. We had our own car & was able to enjoy things outside of the hotel but they are able to fully accommodate those who did not have access.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. What a unique experience! The food offered at the restaurant on site was not that good and very pricey. However the host did help us order from a local restaurant using delivery that was very good.
The lodge was seclusive but had all the basic amenities that you would need. We loved that we were in a jungle environment and woke up with nature everyday. The staff were very helful and friendly and made our stay welcoming. Fiona's Cafe had amazing food for breakfast and dinner, with reasonable prices. We enjoyed our stay very much!
Gorgeous property. Amazing people. Great communication. Good location.
Because if the construct of the rooms, they are not easy to cool. I would definitely stay here again but just know there is wildlife and difficult cooling.
There is a mini fridge, a water dispenser and coffee is provided.
The trail around the property is plus.

Nice little property in San Ignacio. The staff (especially Cesar) are fantastic.
Absolutely perfect stay. We had the 2 bedroom villa which was gigantic. It comes with a well equipped kitchen and a back terrace that is perfect for breakfast sojourns before getting into the heat of San Ignacio. There is a pool here too, albeit small. The staff are particularly great, and everyone is super polite and helpful. You will need a car to get here, and it’d make sense to rent one anyway as you have to drive in Belize. There is a great walking/hiking trail in the property to get the juices flowing in the morning. All in all this was a super stay.
Property is idealy located next to Santa Elena and San Ignacio for easy access to all shopping and business needs. I do believe the pool area needs an upgrade, it's fine but time for a re- decking and more modern pool.
Tranquil little paradise in the nature! Loved the grounds and the authentic style of the rooms. Room was beautifully prepared with flower petal decoration on the bed & bathroom. Nice pool area to relax and 40 min nature trail through the trees although we didn’t see any tucans unfortunately. Shower pressure great - the best we had in Belize! Ate dinner and breakfast in the onsite restaurant - both delicious but a little on the pricey side. Turned up for breakfast one morning without pre-reserving/ordering and all worked out fine. Had a scorpion in the room one night but all part of the nature experience! Location is a short drive from the centre but far enough to feel totally in the nature. Highly recommend!
We had a really nice stay at Maya Mountain Lodge! The grounds are absolutely beautiful with so many plants, and the pool was much needed after being out exploring in the heat all day. Fiona’s Cafe had good food at reasonable prices. The staff was very friendly and helped us book taxis to and from town. Would recommend if you’re looking for a quiet place to stay in nature, but not too far from town!
All of the staff go above, and beyond their duties, to ensure that the guests have the best experience. I enjoyed walking around the property. I took the plant and edibles tour on the property. The food in the restaurant is very good. It’s definitely worth staying there, for the experience.
The Maya Mountain Lodge was our jungle oasis. It is a two minute drive from Santa Elena and less than 10 minutes from San ignacio.
We stayed in Agouti which had a good sized bedroom with a 2 person table, bathroom and a kitchen in the porch area. The kitchen was set up with a microwave , toaster, fridge, coffee maker, kettle, gas stove, and oven. We cooked several meals there which is always a welcome change from eating out all the time. We also had our own outdoor area with a picnic table and hammock.
The grounds were a tropical arboretum with a lovely variety of plantings. We paid a nominal fee for a bird walk around the property. Levi helped us see 24 species including stunners like the collared aracari and the keel billed Toucan.
The staff was very helpful helping us schedule outings, do our laundry ($10 USD) or recommend a pizza place.
The pool area seemed fine but needed better seating.
One night a concert in town was so loud that it kept us up until 3 AM - not the Lodge's fault exactly. Otherwise it was very quiet and restful.
