We had a good time staying at Hampton Inn San Diego-Kearny Mesa as a family of three. Things that stood out for me was breakfast, courteous staff & cleanliness. Location is just 15-20 min drives to most of the attractions including airport & old town train stations. We haven't used pool & gym facilities but they look good. They have a good lobby & dinning area. Breakfast is better than typical cheap hotels as they include one egg dish & maintain good hygine.

Pros: rooms were clean, towels replaced and beds made everyday we stayed (I really enjoy this- most hotels I’ve stayed at in recent years don’t, so this was a lovely touch), staff was friendly, beds were mostly comfortable (bedding was amazing, mattress was very soft-I’m use to firm), access to room was simple even being on level 4, check in and check out was simple, Cons: mattress was too soft for my preference,

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Room was large, temp was thermostatically controlled (yay!), perfectly clean, and quiet. My only complaint is that one elevator is out-of-service, and our room was far far from the working elevator. We did not ask to be moved though, too tired!

The room was clean and spacious, staff were nice, but the mattress was very old and flat. It felt like my hip bone is touching the springs! The mattress definitely needs to be changed. If you are a light sleeper, choose your room on the opposite side of the construction which started at 7 am! I couldn't sleep after that and i'm a heavy sleeper!
