About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
THE TRADING POST
The original hub of it all, the log cabin store still stands. It was here that the community got their mail, groceries, gas and kerosene at the turn of the century. It was certainly a meeting place for all, since the original road to town was unpaved until the Second World War. There was always a coffee pot brewing in Mrs. Mackie`s kitchen. Certainly many artists and writers sat in her kitchen sharing stories, only to be disturbed by the ringing of the store`s bell when someone entered.
Gather with family and friends in the original trading post, seated next to the old wood fire stove or reclining on one of the couches. Take a walk down the dirt road, passing the barns and corrals and the goji orchard to where the bridge crosses the San Cristobal creek.
The Trading Post is a three bedroom, 2 bath adobe and log cabin that used to serve as a country store and post office for the small village of San Cristobal. It has an attached 500 sq ft log cabin room that can function as a studio or a large family/play room. Two of the bedrooms have a queen size bed and the small bedroom has two single beds. There is a bathroom with a clawfoot bath and shower. The kitchen seats six people. It is fully equipped with a gas stove, stainless steel refrigerator and dishwasher. Off the kitchen is a sunporch and also an outside porch.
Taos Goji is located on 40 acres and surrounded by national forest, with plenty of space to wander. There is a playground outside for guests with children, picnic tables, hammocks, and a gas grill. During the summer, guests have access to our organic vegetable garden in exchange for some weeding or a good word. We also have fresh eggs from our chickens available seasonally. We have farm animals. i.e. chickens, alpacas and a goat A small laundry facility has a coin operated washer/dryer for guests. The sun and clean mountain air are both delicious and free.
Interaction varies by season and the particulars of our guests. Summer is a busy time on the farm and we have several interns helping with the gojis, vegetable gardens, and all sorts of activities. Some guests like meet up, join meals, hikes, and see what`s happening on the farm. Others prefer their privacy and we respect his. There`s plenty of room for all of us. We have many artists and writers who come for inspiration and quiet. Winter is a quieter time and folks are usually on their own

There is a wood stove in each cabin, fully equipped kitchen and bath. The Eco-Lodge is now powered by solar and all cabins except the Artist`s Retreat are heated by air heat pumps. The hideaway Artist`s Retreat is heated by propane, electric heaters and a wood fire stove.
Fresh organic eggs and veggies available seasonally. Cabins and tipis are cleaned with biodegradable cleaning products (mostly vinegar) and fragrance-free and eco friendly detergents are used on the linens. Our delicious drinking water comes from our deep wells. Most bedding is organic and we recycle. Perfectly inbetween, we are 20 miles to Taos Ski Valley and 20 miles to Red River Ski Area.
The lodge and farm remains a quiet, rustic getaway from modern life. There are ten cabins on the property, glamping venues, i.e. tipis and a bunk house plus a 1600 sq ft open barn, and a 500 sq feet log cabin that serves as an extra indoor event space.
The land and contains a seasonal stream, two ponds, many cottonwood, pine, and aspen trees, five acres of goji plants, seasonal vegetable gardens, a greenhouse, fruit trees, a children`s playground, flower gardens, chickens, goats and lambs.
The land and its surroundings offer a host of quiet walking areas. Nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, we are surrounded by the Kit Carson National Forest, which offers lots of walking or cross country trails. 10 miles to Taos, 20 miles to Taos Ski Valley, and 20 miles to Red River Ski Area.
We are located in the countryside, which means lots of quiet and starry nights. Cell reception is limited, and sometimes requires a walk down the road. Wifi or fiber optics is speedy and efficient and is provided in the cabins, but can be nonexistent during electrical outage (a rare occurrence). We are not a hotel. There is no front office or permanent lodge staff. These are clean, green and rustic country cabins, a perfect place for creative individuals who crave a break from the bustle of civilization, a romantic getaway, or to bring your children to appreciate the wandering chickens, goats and lambs and country living without TV or computer games. Don`t panic, Taos is only 15 minutes away!
