This spacious four-bedroom cottage comes with comfortable furnishings, pleasing decor, and many extras to help you have a great vacation. Relax in the great room featuring a cathedral ceiling and get some good entertainment with the flatscreen TV. Plenty of delicious meals can be cooked up in the large kitchen with a breakfast bar. Two refrigerators with ice makers will ensure you can store all your goodies this trip.

Enjoy free long distance during your stay and plenty of entertainment options with five TVs, five DVD players, and a stereo/CD player. At the end of a fun-filled day, head outside to relax on the furnished decks and screened-in porch or climb up to the rooftop deck in time to catch a beautiful sunset. We arrived during a storm. The code to the lock didn't work. The directions were not accurate and the person I called began asking questions about my booking. She spoke poor english, asked me for the address, confirmation code, Dates of occupation, something like the SMS code, etc., none of which I had in my hand. We (all 4 of us) were standing in the rain, which I explained to her. She seemed totally unconcerned. When she finally got around to telling me the code (which I already had) I repeated it to her exactly as it was written 640651 */ (Checkmark). She then told me ,Oh, you only push the star OR the checkmark, not both! This is NOT in the code discription! Also, there is a bad detail on the house. The gable end has a valley on each side running down to the edge of the roof and dumps water in a stream during rains directly over the door where someone has to stand to operate the lock. Your instructions should have told us (and everyone else) do not attempt to operate lock durinr rain unless you want to be met with a deluge of water on your head! Every piece of cookwear was caked with food and grease, the deck had nailheads protuding from the surface, the exhaust fan in the bathroom in the bedroom bath doesn't work and the broom and dustpan are useless. In fairness,I will admit we didn't vacuum. I feel the cleaning team should do this, not the customer. I will never rent anything through Vacassa again.

Wonderful!

Our family had a fantastic time staying at this home on our vacation. It was large, it was clean, it had everything we needed, it was easy walking distance to beach access. The widow's walk was our favorite place to sit and hang out.

A great beach vacation

Overall we enjoyed staying at Sandy Cay. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing location, this is it! The neighborhood is quiet and the house is only a short walk to the beach. The beaches here are not very crowded, which was a big plus, and the community as a whole is not terribly touristy. There’s enough to keep you busy but it’s not overwhelming. The house has a very welcoming homey feel. We loved the view from the rooftop deck. The upper deck is perfect for getting lots of sun, and the lower deck is perfect for relaxing in the shade. The screened-in part of the deck became the favorite room in the house. If you’re bringing a large group, there is plenty of room. We had a group of 7, including 4 teenagers, and everyone was quite comfortable. We cooked most days, and the kitchen was more than adequate with plenty of counter space. It has a variety of pots and pans, utensils, and bowls. Plenty of dishes and cutlery. It even has cake pans and your grandma’s ancient hand mixer that has withstood the test of time. There is access to a community pool , which was nice. They have clean bathrooms and shower rooms, and a separate baby pool. But be aware that it is 20 minutes away in the next town. This did not deter us, but I did not realize this prior to booking. And none of the previous reviews mentioned it. Overall we loved it at Sandy Cay and we would stay here again.

OBX Getaway

Myself and some friends decided to book a beach getaway in the Outer Banks. This how was quite affordable, is in a great location, and has plenty of room. I wish there had been more game/beach related items on property. The screened in porch and crow’s nest were the highlights of this house! We loved our stay and would book again.

House of Contradictions

Let’s start with first of this house is listed as pet friendly but if you call and ask it is not pet friendly. When we arrived the house was dirty bugs on the counters in the kitchen. Dishwasher has dirty dishes in it. Floors were dirty many broken screens and burnt out lights. Vacasa Who this house is managed by does not care About your complaints. Highly unsatisfied

We enjoyed it

Our stay at the house was great, though I did notice a few minor issues upon arrival. A couple screens on the porch were not in the windows, one was broken; the wooden blinds on one of the windows was broken; couple other minor cosmetic things. None of these things hindered our vacation, they just weren’t lovely to look at. The location of the house was perfect. We could walk to the beach or get in the car and drive a few miles to the public access with beach driving. I do think the listing should be updated as the house can sleep 11 based on the beds they have available- 3 king or queen beds, 2 sets of bunk beds, and a trundle under one set. I would have probably booked a smaller house if the listing gave any notion that it was so large. Overall it was a great getaway and we will book with Outer Beaches again in the future.

Nice, location close enough to beach. Great design for larger family, nice privacy, quiet at night for sleeping, cool and comfortable. Slightly dated but overlooked that, it is a beach house. offered outside showers, wonderful decks and screen porch. Enjoyed our stay very much and would go back.
