La maison du Parour
Features a living area (40 m²) comprising the living room, the dining room with an open kitchen, and three bedrooms (17, 16, and 13 m²) with three bathrooms, each featuring a toilet, plus a separate toilet. All rooms face south, opening onto the terrace, the garden, and the pool. The house has underfloor heating.
With three bedrooms and three bathrooms, the layout of the house is particularly well-suited for couples and friends.
The wine cellar:
It features a living area comprising the living room and an open kitchen (this space can be converted into a bedroom upon request), a bedroom, and a shower room. It has sloped ceilings and faces east/west. It opens to the east onto a terrace, the garden, and the pool. The wine cellar has underfloor heating.
The renovation was carried out to preserve and highlight the typical elements of Oléron architecture while providing the comfort of a residence aiming for a 5-star prefectural classification. The fireplace, the well—so characteristic of the island—and the whitewashed walls have been restored.
The house and wine cellar are a 5-minute walk from shops and the beach, in the village of La Cotinière, famous for its fishing port and fish market. The house is accessed via a typical Oléron alleyway.
Once you’re at Le Parour, leave your car behind and take advantage of the Atlantic coast’s abundant sunshine to enjoy all kinds of activities on foot or by bike: the beach and seaside, walks, outings…
You’ll find high-quality local food shops right on site, making shopping a real pleasure: a bakery, fishmongers supplied directly from the fish auction, a butcher shop, wine shops, a grocery store, and a daily market with fruits and vegetables, a cheese and dairy shop, oyster farmers, and more. After you’ve finished shopping, your well-equipped kitchen will let you showcase local products (be sure to try céteaux and chipirons, local specialties).
In case of an emergency—though we hope you won’t need it—you’ll find doctors and a pharmacy right here.
In the late afternoon, still on foot, you can go for a drink at Bar la Gaité while enjoying the light over the fishing port, before heading to the friendly atmosphere of the Pigouille oyster bar (and yes, Oléron oysters are delicious even in the summer!) and ending your evening with a stroll along the harbor, enjoying a delicious artisanal ice cream from Les Tamarins!
For a slightly more urban vibe, a 15-minute bike ride along the bike paths will take you to Saint-Pierre d’Oléron, the “capital of the island,” with its small clothing shops and, of course, grocery stores (don’t miss the pastry shops on the church square), as well as its bars and restaurants. If you want to sample the local market-fresh cuisine, the place to go is Le P’tit Bouchon, on the main pedestrian street.
And if you leave sunny Oléron, you’ll find the famous La Palmyre Zoo, the Hermione frigate shipyard, and the La Rochelle Aquarium all nearby.
