Neighbourhood and activities:
- Bon Secours beach, Porte St-Pierre, with its seawater swimming pool and sailing club on the beach; at low tide, you can walk to the island of Grand Bé, where Chateaubriand’s tomb is located.
- The City Museum, housed in one of the city’s keep towers, offering panoramic views of Saint-Malo, the Cathedral and the ramparts. Guided tours are available by contacting the tourist office at Porte St-Vincent, at the foot of the ramparts on the outside, or by taking the little train for a guided historical tour of the town.
- Rue de l’Orme, also known as ‘the gourmet street’, where you’ll discover some excellent local produce: Butter and cheese from Bordier, Saint-Malo babas, seasonal fruit and vegetables all year round, fresh fish at the Guinemer fishmonger’s, as well as numerous restaurants, such as the Breizh Café, Le Cambusier, or even L’Absinthe at the bottom of the street. There are two mini-markets on Rue St-Vincent and Rue de Dinan.
- On Place Chateaubriand, you can enjoy excellent seafood at the Café de l’Ouest, the best burgers at the Lion d’Or, enjoy Sunday brunch at the Maison Générale – a treat for both the palate and the eyes (please note: booking recommended) – and discover the charming restaurant Le Cargo Culte, with its friendly atmosphere, featuring home-cooked dishes, tarts, salads, open sandwiches and soups, all served in a décor featuring second-hand finds. Le Passenger serves original and creative dishes cooked on a lava stone grill.
- In the evening, you can choose between a Celtic atmosphere at St-Patrick’s or a cosy ambience at L’Univers; beer lovers will be delighted by L’Aviso with its 500 beers! For lovers of cocktails and rum in a nautical atmosphere, you can raise a glass at La Trinquette on the harbour, along the Bassin Vauban.

St Malo Intra-Muros is served by bus routes 2, 3 and 9.
- Saint-Malo railway station: 2 km (30 m on foot) or bus line 2.
- Rennes Airport: 70 km to Rennes St Jacques
- Ferries to Portsmouth, Jersey and Guernsey, at the ferry terminal located 10 minutes’ walk away.
- From Place St-Vincent, you’ll find buses and coaches to all areas of Saint-Malo, as well as the little train for a guided historical tour of the town.
- Cale de Dinan, 250m away: shuttle service for the Saint-Malo–Dinard crossing: 10-minute crossing.
