Friendly host and clean interior, but high price tag for low amenities
We booked this last minute hoping for a peaceful farmhouse stay surrounded by rolling hills. While the estate is in the countryside, the guest house itself is tucked inside the property with no view of the surrounding landscape, which the listing photos slightly misleadingly suggested.
The Good: The accommodation is newly renovated, very clean, and the host was friendly.
The Drawbacks:
Safety & Accessibility: The stairs up to the sleeping area are steep, ladder-like Japanese-style steps with no handrails, and a few steps were slightly bent outwards—definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Comfort & Essentials: The mattress was very uncomfortable. The towels had a strong, damp/musty smell, the bathroom lacked hand soap, the kitchen towels hadn't been washed, and basic kitchen supplies were sparse.
Privacy: The living room sofa faces a glass front door, which directly looks onto the host’s main entrance and windows.
Convenience: Strict check-in (6:00 PM) and check-out (10:00 AM) window, and guests are required to strip the bedsheets and load the washing machine before leaving.
Overall, it was an okay stay, but at £370 for 2 nights, the safety concerns, lack of basic amenities, restrictive hours, and self-cleaning expectations make it feel overpriced.
