About this property

Lantana Lodge in Sabinal

This Hill Country getaway near Sabinal is truly special! Every stick of lumber in Lantana Lodge is a labor of love-hand-crafted by the owner, from the furniture to the guest home itself. Located in the beautiful Hill Country River Region, the Lodge sleeps up to 16 guests and stands as a warm tribute to the couple who lived here and loved the land. That love is reflected in every room, and in the pond and waterfall features, too. Staying here truly feels personal.

When he got a sawmill, the owner sought out hundreds of trees that would become Lantana Lodge, bartering with his master craftsmanship to cover most of the building costs. The furniture, bed frames, deck, pond dock, and covered bridge are all his creations-an extension of his family history offered to yours. In that same spirit, kids and pets are welcome!

The private pond is perfect for catch-and-release fishing, and guests can enjoy seven kayaks, a rowboat, and a concrete launch ramp. Relax by the firepit on the pond's edge (firewood included), or unwind on
the two shaded patios that stretch the length of the Lodge. A stone walkway leads to a charming waterfall that fills a shallow pool ideal for young children. There's also a charcoal pit for cooking, plus horseshoes, corn hole, oversized Jenga, washer boards, tailgate golf, beautiful sunsets, wild birds, and more. For safety, a signed release is required.

Inside, guests are surrounded by radiant woodwork and thoughtful touches like antler chandeliers, a mounted quilt, and a hand-carved totem pole. Comfort is easy with central air, ceiling fans, and an indoor wood-burning fireplace. The living area includes three couches, Roku-ready TV, and Wifi. The kitchen is fully outfitted with appliances, cookware, and serving ware, and the dining area features a 12-person table with eight bar stools. The utility room includes a washer/dryer, industrial sink, deep freeze, commercial ice maker, and a half bath.

Three themed bedrooms-each with a queen bed and full bath-are named for the owners' passions: the Whitetail Room, Cowboy Room, and Indian Room. Each has its own private entrance to the back patio.

In addition to the bedrooms, the living area features two new queen beds, increasing total sleeping capacity to 16 guests. Additional trundle beds and queen chair-beds offer flexible arrangements for groups. All beds and baths include fresh linens.

Backroads Reservations would love to welcome your family to the heart and heritage of Lantana Lodge. Come create new memories and add your own chapter to this special place.

Please note: A previous review mentioned ongoing work and unavailable amenities. All improvements were fully completed in April, 2025 and everything listed-including the hot tub, pond, kayaks, firepit, and more-is fully available during your stay.
