Hotel Gianicolo is the perfect mix of elegance and tranquility. Perched above Rome, it offers breathtaking city views and easy access to Trastevere and the Vatican. The staff were warm and attentive, the rooms spotless and charming, and the breakfast delicious. The peaceful garden and pool made it the ideal retreat after a day exploring the city. Great location close enough even by walking distance ( for young people or people active , in shape) to St. Petro Basilica). We took taxi to other places drive 10-15min. Staff very helpful and nice. Room was very clean, nice windows, open wide, even in the bathroom. Shower with shower head from the ceiling or holding from the side option. Travelers from the US need to get special plugs for wall outlets that are not round shape ( we only had round shape ones and hotel did not provide) , if not market down the street has it . The pool is big, nice , outdoor , cold water, but opens at 9am. To get to it , you have to leave through the front of the hotel and enter through the side entrance( towels and swim caps that they want anyone use it are provided. Not sure why the need for caps. Mildew builds up inside the pool. Pool closes at 7pm( too early). Breakfast is good, buffet style.Nice choices, plenty of coffee, tea, capppucino, juices, yogurts.sweets etc. Btw breakfast in European hotels is always so much better than in US hotels. Definitely would stay in this hotel again

They make you wear a swimming cap for the pool so don’t book this just for the pool, barley anyone uses it cause they don’t wanna put the cap on - I think they said it happens at every hotel in rome

Best nostalgic Rome hotel stay!

This was our first time to Rome and staying at the Gianicolo truly took our trip to the next level. The facilities are lovely, the hotel gives you the feeling of a European vacation from the 1950s or 60s but with all the modern conveniences you need. Breakfast each morning was great with a good variety of options, homemade pastries, cakes, creamy scrambled eggs, or fresh fruit and cereal. The pool is incredible - perfect for starting the day with a dip or coming back after a hot day of sightseeing. We had our final dinner at the restaurant in the hotel where we dined poolside while watching the sunset. The service was wonderful with great food and wine recommendations and it was one of the best meals we ate the whole week! The rooms are not large, but that’s fairly typical of European hotels, so we were prepared for that. We still had plenty of space to store our belongings and hideaway our luggage, and having AC was worth it for a smaller room vs staying at a larger AirBNB without air conditioning. The staff were all warm and efficient, promptly helping us with any questions or concerns. The neighborhood was also lovely, a little quieter since it is up the hill from the river and the more lively area of Trastevere, but very walkable and conveniently located to get to both attractions on the other side of the river and the Vatican with a quick taxi ride. Overall, I cannot recommend the Gianicolo more and hope to return on future vacations!

Very nice, polite, great breakfast buffet included in a beautiful room. Nice out swimming pool wirh bar and restaurant. Also they gave me 1 free bottle of sparkling wine. Air conditioner, no gym.
