This was my second stay at Casa Santa Sofia. Its staff is super friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and the location is excellent with respect to walking to many locations, and is full of restaurants and interesting shops.

The location is absolutely perfect turn the corner and you’re greeted with a view of the Colosseum just a stone’s throw away. The Trevi Fountain and Pantheon are within a 15-minute walk, while the Vatican is about 25 minutes by car and Trastevere just 15 minutes. There are plenty of great little restaurants right out the front and all around the hotel. As a solo female traveller, I did notice some seedy people hanging out at the front on occasion, but they were largely harmless. The staff were very friendly and responsive, which made the stay more comfortable. If you’re looking for a hotel mainly as a place to sleep while exploring Rome, I highly recommend it. But if you want luxury or extra amenities, you may prefer elsewhere.

Everything was great, the front desk girls were great, Gabrielle was excellent. The only thing that was different was that there's no Tv in the room and the shower areas was very small. Other than that Everything was perfect..

A lovely option in Rome.

The hotel was booked last minute because of an Airbnb that wasn’t quite right. The staff were very helpful and let us keep our luggage there until check-in. The lobby is comfortable and nice to relax in while we waited. The water cooler was a very nice and welcome addition in the lobby. The rooms are basic yet clean and comfortable with a pretty spacious bathroom. Breakfast was tasty and enjoyable with a nice selection. My one small note for improvement is that the lamps in the room have cool lightbulbs instead of warm and so the light reminded me more of a hospital than a hotel. No other issues beyond that and I’d definitely stay again.

The hotel has a lot going for it. It’s in a great location, just a short walk from the Colosseum and surrounded by tons of food and shopping options. The staff were really nice and the room was clean and comfortable. Having breakfast included in the package was also a nice touch and made mornings much easier. That said, a few things took away from the overall experience. There was no TV or fridge in the room, and the rooftop bar which was one of the features that drew me in was closed during my stay with no notice. Even the TV in the common area didn’t work, so there weren’t many options for relaxing onsite. If you’re mainly looking for a convenient, clean place to sleep in a central location, it does the job. But if amenities and advertised features are important to you, it may fall short.

Overall a really nice stay. My only complaints all be it very minor but valuable is that the rooms did lack some key facilities such as a television, kettle tea & coffee facilities and the bathroom was very dated and small. It Needed refubished. The shower was tiny I could only just fit in. The double bed was very small it was more like a large single than a double . Apart from the above everything else was great. Staff were friendly and lovely . Couldn’t do more for you if they tried they were amazing . Location was amazing . Colloseum on your doorstep and the metro 2 minutes walk away. They could have been more hot food options at breakfast for the price they charge but overall it was okay. Would I come back again? If the price was really cheap then yes due to what it lacks otherwise for the price I paid I would choose to find a hotel with better facilities .

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Rome

Hotel Casa Santa Sofia is perfectly located in the center of Rome. We took a taxi from the airport, and what a pleasant surprise it was to see the Roman Colosseum just around the corner from the hotel. A truly magical welcome! The hotel is spotless and smells fresh the moment you walk in. Everything is well maintained and thoughtfully designed, creating an immediate sense of calm and comfort. We were traveling as a family and booked two rooms. While they weren’t very large — something quite typical in Europe — they were well lit, the towels were high quality, and you could tell attention was paid to the details. The staff was very kind and helpful. Upon our arrival, the receptionist helped us plan our afternoon and even booked the hop-on hop-off bus tour directly from the hotel — super convenient. The area around the hotel is lively and full of restaurants, gelaterias, and local energy no matter the time of day. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again on our next trip to Rome. Highly recommended!

The hotel was kind of hard to find but other than that, the staff was better than I thought they’d be. Received the best customer service than all 4 hotels we stayed at during our trip around Italy. They helped set up transportation, got us in our room early and were helpful any time we had questions. I would highly recommend and would stay there again.

Extremely Disappointed

Well I asked Hotel.com to help me because there was jackhammers on the first morning of our stay at 8am in the morning and every day since and the last day they added hammering and did not tell us untill we left that the bathroom next door was broken. But the jackhammer never quit until 4:30/5 that day, so I am not sure that was the entire truth. It was extremely hot in Rome, so my daughter and I would try to avoid the hottest part of the day, but how do you relax with jackhammers above your head? Hotels.com said they would get back to me within 24 hours regarding a partial reimbursement, and it has been 5-6 days, but I have not heard about my partial refund. It was horrible, and the woman in the morning shift was not nice at all. When we checked out, she did not charge me for the morning breakfast, and then emailed me later to explain that it was to compensate for the noise from the hammering next door due to the broken toilet. I never heard back from the Hotel or Hotels.com about the noise we had to endure during our stay, and honestly, I am not very happy and extremely disappointed.
