Heart of Hatteras at Waves Village Resort — Sunrise Ocean, Sunset Sound, One Balcony

Pick a horizon. From the second-floor north corner of Waves Village, Heart of Hatteras looks both ways: ocean views to the east, and the Pamlico Sound filling 10-foot sliding doors to the west, where the sunset show plays huge across the waterfront living area every evening. The private hot tub on the balcony puts you front row for it (please note the hot tub is seasonal, open April through September).

Three Masters, Two More Decks

Every bedroom is a master. The westside king master features a tiled shower; the queen master opens to its own deck access; and the third — a spacious king — claims a private north-view deck of its own. Throughout, 9-foot ceilings, crown molding, and hardwood flooring carry a polish that matches the views. Beds are made for arrival, a washer and dryer are in the unit, and Wi-Fi keeps everyone connected. Dogs are welcome ($150 per dog, maximum of 2).

The Waves Village Campus

Onsite: a 70-foot waterfront pool, direct entry to the Pamlico Sound for world-class kitesurfing, and watersports, air pumps and gear storage with board racks, an outdoor shower, Good Winds Restaurant, a coffee shop, and the surf shop — with the adjacent Kitty Hawk Kites flagship store supplying equipment and instructors for the vacation of a lifetime.
