When I arrived at the front desk to check in, the staff member assisting me was a very soft-spoken young man, and it was difficult to hear him. After providing my name, he asked, “You had the handicap accessible room, right?” I confirmed that I did. He then informed me, “I’m sorry; we’re all sold out.” When I asked when they sold out, he said, “Today.”
He went on to explain that the reservation I made for a room with two double beds could no longer be accommodated and that the only remaining option was a single room with one king bed—no pull-out, no alternative arrangements. After a five-hour drive and arriving after 9:00 PM, this was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. We had no choice but to take the room, which forced one person in my party to sleep on the floor.
I’m struggling to understand how a hotel can sell out of rooms that were pre-reserved. This experience was frustrating, inconvenient, and far below expectations.
