We booked this hotel through Expedia for RIT Homecoming Weekend and were very disappointed with our stay. The room was ready on time, but as soon as we walked in, it smelled like someone had just smoked a pack of cigarettes. I went to the office, and the man at the front desk was extremely kind and helpful. He apologized, explained that the hotel is a 100% smoke-free property (though not everyone follows the rules), and quickly gave us another room.
The second room smelled better, but the floor was sticky, the door lock was hanging by one screw, and the molding was cracked. The bedside lamp had a broken lightbulb with glass still around it. The sheets looked clean, but the overall condition was concerning. In our first room, the bathroom light didn’t even work.
While moving rooms, we met another guest who was switching because their room smelled strongly of marijuana. Later that night, even though the parking lot was well lit, we did not feel safe. A man was standing in a nearby field watching the lot and was still there when we left. Several people were hanging around outside or going in and out of rooms and cars, giving the property a party-like feel.
My husband and I didn’t feel comfortable staying and decided to drive home in the middle of the night, cutting our weekend short. We prepaid through Expedia and are very disappointed, as the online reviews did not reflect the true condition or safety of this hotel.
