Lakeside fishing cottage, with beautiful wood interior located in the Preserve on southwest side of lookout mountain, in Rising Fawn ,Georgia. We are 30 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. The preserve is a 2800 acre retreat, with several lakes, great hiking, gorgeous streams, beautiful views of lookout mountain . You are within 30 minutes of Tennessee aquarium, ruby falls, rock city. We are 15 minutes from Canyon Grill restaurant, Cloudland Canyon State Park, and Lookout mountain flight park (hang gliding). We are 20 minutes from Mentone, Alabama. The lakeside fishing cottage, has beautiful wood interior, great room with a fireplace, eat in fully equipped kitchen, that leads out to a deck overlooking the lake. High speed Fiber Optic WiFi internet and TV. The loft bedroom has 2 queen size beds, flatscreen tv, over looking great room, beautiful cedar walls. There is a sleeper sofa in the great room. Bathroom with a soaker tub and shower. There is a private master suite, with a king size bed, master bath with large walk in shower, the French doors lead to a private deck with wood burning fire pit, with views of Johnson lake. There is a front porch , for relaxing and watching the mountains. Amenities include: wifi, fiber tv, central heat & air, washer, dryer, charcoal/wood fire pit/grill, Child Kayak up to 100lbs, 4 seat paddle boat, and more.

The home was decorated nicely and we can see how it would be a cute place to stay after a fishing trip. Unfortunately, we experienced several issues during our stay. The grill had a propane leak and was not usable, even after someone came out. The guest bathroom shower handle broke the first night and was never fully repaired, leaving our family to share one shower. The guest bath also only has a tub with a handheld shower.The master bathroom does not have full walls, which limited privacy, and the layout felt much smaller than expected with very little privacy overall. We also noticed quite a few bugs and the kitchen cookware was very worn.While the home has charm, it was not the right fit for the relaxing retreat we were hoping for, and we would not return.

We loved this stay! I only gave 4 stars for two things because of how close the neighbors were. I feel like photos were taken strategically to not show that; however, the neighbors did not bother us during our stay. This house is beautiful inside! Great place for a getaway from our normal life.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. We lost power for 7 hrs while there so maybe more candles and flashlights since there was no candles and a small flashlight in cabin. We enjoyed the location but the cabin was closer to neighbors than we were expecting. Lots of in and out traffic since house is right by the road. Overall house was homey and welcoming. Paddles for kayak would be helpful for next guest.

Cozy Cabin

Better than advertised! The cabin is very cozy, but packs a lot into what appears like a small space. We were coming to town for the Cloudland Canyon State Park races hosted by Runbum and planning to camp. When I saw that temperatures could be in the teens, my group happily decided we needed a place to stay. I was so grateful Stevie's place was close to the Park and available for the weekend! There were plenty of beds and two sizeable bathrooms. The kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed, and it was obvious the house leaner takes her job seriously. To top it off, the cabin has a gas fireplace that definitely kept us warm in the freezing evenings. I also thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the sunshine with the community cat who greeted me on the porch both mornings we were there. A very friendly creature.

When we arrived we found towels in the washer, sheets in the dryer. We did not know whether the towels had been washed or needed washing. We could not get in touch with the host to find out. We had enough towels for our two days. Overall. We liked the cabin and the location. It was perfect for our Fall Break adventure.

Terrible Experience

We checked in on 10/20/24 after driving for 9 hours from Florida. Upon entering the property, we found that the cabin had not been cleaned after the prior guest. The beds had been used, cabin uncleaned and found most towels in the floor of the kitchen dirty! Silverware had fingerprints on it, and tray was disgusting! Had to was sheets until 2 AM and clean bathroom just so we could shower and go to bed. Toilet seat in master bath had a crack in it and pinched your leg, master shower didn’t drain well due to build up of hair under wood grate from no telling how many previous guests! A/C intake grate was caked in dust! Owner didn’t show adequate concern over anything that was reported to her! Do not stay here! You can tell she is oblivious to what is going on with the cleaning staff! Also the day that they finally cleaned, they took every single towel in the cabin and we had none when we came back from the day out! The owner had them come back and they didn’t arrive until nearly 10 PM that night and towels stunk like cigarettes and were dingy and contained bleach stains! If you take the risk of staying here just know you may be cleaning and doing laundry instead of enjoying yourself! This owner showed such lack of concern and only refunded my cleaning fee and first night’s stay! Not enough in my opinion! The only reason I’m giving 1 star is because they don’t offer a zero star option!

Cute and and lovely location.

I booked this home on the assumption that the kayak was for a full sized person and not a child. So, if that’s important to you bring your own. The kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of towels and blankets. The home suited our family of 6 well. The back and Front porches were lovely. The side porch off of the master was not in good shape and we chose not to use it. There was a lot of mouse evidence and a large cockroach. We had problems checking in but the host did a great job communicating with us and problem solving. The location was very peaceful.
