I shared my experience with this hotel a few days ago, but my review was rejected by Expedia. To save everyone's time, do not contact me with this request again. To anyone who asks me about this hotel, I will recommend booking some place else.

Close to the beach but that's it

Wifi didn't work in the room even though I paid for it. Stains on the sheets, tv barely worked. The shower was good though!

Great experience

We stayed here during the World Cup days. The location is great, right in the center of actions of everything. The balcony (we stayed on the 11th floor) offers a fantastic view to the famed Copacabana beach. All the staffs are friendly. The breakfast was good. Very pleasant experience. Definitely recommend.

Close to the Copacabana beach

The hotel was in an ideal location, on the main beach road, breakfast was ok as compared to other Rio hotels - however one of the hotel elevator was down and and I was told it has been down for over 2 weeks, the wifi-internet was very bad. overall for a short stay its ok

you won't be in it much

This hotel provides average service but you will be right on copacabana beach so you will not be in it much. It serves as only a place to sleep. Breakfast was not too bad. The worst part about this hotel is that you can't bring any guests whether its a friend or a lady. I had such a difficult time trying to bring a lady in my room and that is what copacabana is known for, beautiful women. If your young and will not stay in the hotel but don't care about bringing girls back this is right for you. If you are 30+ and will stay in the hotel for long periods of time I don't reccomend it. TV was from the 90s.

Loved the location at Copacabana Beach

We were very happy with our hotel and location on Copacabana Beach and the view of the beach was spectacular. Breakfast was very good as well. There were lots of good restaurants nearby.This was our first trip to Rio De Janeiro and we would definitely return.

I would go out of my way to discourage this hotel

The rooms were dirty. You could see a patch of dirt gathered and the hotel is really old. The beds were uncomfortable. I got a "queen sized" bed but it was two singles put together. The bathroom was unsanitary. There were bugs crawling and the sink was broken. The staffs were extremely rude. I went to the lobby to ask a question but the staff member stared at me and walked a way. The second staff member I asked did the same. I asked yet another staff member and he promoted hotel tourist packages rather than answering my questions. The shuttle service was also extremely unsatisfactory. I asked for a 10 o'clock shuttle but he said there wasn't enough room and offered 11 or 9 shuttle. I've originally chose 11 but wanted to change approximately 3 minutes after i paid to 9 shuttle. But I was told if I change, I won't be able to take the 9 shuttle. So reluctantly, I went to the airport on the 8 shuttle and arrived at the airport 4.5 hrs earlier. The elevators in the hotel was also unreliable. Most of the time, one of the two didn't work and once both didn't work so I had to take the stairs to the 10th floor. The overall service provided by the hotel was extremely below standard and my experience in Rio was ruined because of the hotel. the service I received was the worst I've ever received. I strongly discourage this hotel to anyone and I will go out of my way to tell everyone I know to avoid this hotel.

Pros - good breakfast , right across Copacabana beach. Friendly staff. Fluent in English Cons - old and could use renovation of rooms and bathrooms. While the bathrooms were clean, the age and the wear shows. The ride on the elevator was like a ride on the Disney tower of terror.

Comfortable

Great location, Excelent Breakfast and attention. Nice lobby. Poor elevators performance, only one working most time and neither one at other times. Bad wifi signal in rooms to be charged. Though, a better signal on lobby area and free. I enjoyed my stay very much, eventhough it's an old building with a very modern touch. I would definetely stay there again in a future visit. Staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Thanks

Great location. Right in front to Copacabana beach

Old hotel with friendly staff and great location, right in front to Copacabana beach. Very close to hand craft street fair. Breakfast was very good. Low: Very old hotel that needs some renovation in the rooms and in the building. Two elevators, but 1 of them was always broken. we had to use stairs several times.

Good Location

The hotel name says it all "Clasic" is an old hotel with old furniture. However they do have an awesome lobby and great breakfast buffet. The location of the hotel is great. The Internet in the room sucks and the cleaning service is the worse. I requested a rolled away bed to be taken out of my room and the they did but they left the bed in the hallway through out my entire stay at the hotel.

This was a joke of modern day resorts. There was not a blow dryer that I saw, an iron and you had to pay to get your cloths ironed, the elevator stopped working, the internet was the worst of all resorts/hotels I have ever been in, the bathroom mirrow was dingy, the decor was old.

Brown Water Hotel

The water that came out of the shower was brown. The water that came out of the faucet in the sink in the bathroom was slightly brown. The shower walls and tub was in poor condition. The room needs to be renovated and modernized, considering the amount of money I spent per night. I tried to turn on the television and it did not com come on.

My stay was adequate. A very convienent location with an outstanding breakfast and friendly people. However, some minor amenities could be included to make this hotel offer a much better experience. For example, there are no Hair Dryers in the room and no iron, both of which I have come to expect from a hotel that I would choose.

why are no repairs being made??

Both passenger elevators broken, in room wifi not working, a/c too noisy to use, and both computers out in the business center in the lobby. Yet they were renewing perfectly fine marble floors. This makes no sense. The building was once beautiful with great balcony, lobby, dining room, and bar.Service people are desk great. But who can stay in a room on the 8th floor without elevators, computers, air conditioning, Some new furniture would be an addition.

WORST HOTEL - CALIFORNIA OTHON

This hotel is extremely bad and I never ever would recommend anyone to stay in here. The staff was extremely rude and the check in process was really poor. The room were really dirty, blankets stained and the bathroom was dirty. I cannot tell you how many times I have stayed in hotel but please understand that this was the WORST stay and I NEVER will recommend anyone to stay here. I never write reviews but I wanted to take the effort to let you all know that you shoudl not spend a minute in thsi hotel. The elevators do not work and the whole hotel smells. It is not upgraded back from the 30's and I mean that. Breakfast was so horrible and internet does not work in the room but they make sure to charge you. PLEASE STAY IN A TAXI if you have only this option..

Stay away from this hotel

Besides being old as molasses, having a bed as soft as a mount of bricks, there were a few pubic hairs sunbathing in and old bathtub, one that I would never consider putting my feet into. I thought I was getting a good deal, but in reality they would have to pay me to stay in that rat hole.

Wi-fi is not working when we were at hotel. Even though they have two computers they were busy all the time. It spoiled all our plans as we thought of planning all our tour while we were in hotel. Room is a little bit better but the toilet is very very bad, the flush and shower were not working properly. I think the hotel is not worthy for the price we paid.

Overall, it is a good hotel for the money. The location is great but next time I would like to have a better room.
