Just a few miles down the road is a bike centre providing cycle hire for those who need it. The Swale Trail runs from Reeth to Keld and is ideal for families. This area is a walker’s paradise as the varied landscape provides miles of walks, both low-level, gentle strolls along the river and more challenging high-level walks. With high mountains and valleys lined with streams, there are endless footpaths around the most spectacular scenery.
Nearby Reeth, approximately 4 miles away has two village stores, craft shops, pubs and tea rooms. Historic Richmond with its Georgian theatre, Norman Castle and beautiful riverside walks is just a short drive away. In the opposite direction is Barnard Castle, with its market, antique shops and famous Bowes Museum. Take a drive into Wensleydale and visit the market towns of Hawes and Leyburn, with a host of attractions located in the surrounding area. The Forbidden Corner in Middleham is only 16 miles away and a great day out for families.
